Very sad news. He was a pleasure to work with and one of the most entertaining desk guys ever. A master. Condolences to his family, close friends and loved ones. Life is precious. Rest In Peace.

Just dust anthems before games. They become meaningless wallpaper. Play the anthem on culturally and nationally significant days - Canada Day, Remembrance Day - and it means something. Play it before every event where someone chases a puck or ball around, it loses significance.

Cool. But really “gimmicky” to me. What’s added by her being on the ice? Does it give anything more to the viewer? Add to the narrative? No on both counts. The same thing would be accomplished by the player coming to the boards and the interview being done there.
This kind of reporting is gold. I get it that it can be perceived by some as “gotcha” journalism but, at the end of the day, it’s weeding out unscrupulous people. That’s the job of a free press. And, god help us all when we’re deprived of independent investigative journalism.
For those of you who don’t live in Ontario/Canada…. here’s a great example of the antiquated, Presbyterian drinking laws we have: I’m at a food and drink show. Vendors from wine and beer businesses are forbidden from selling a bottle of wine or beer for you to take home. Duh.

McCartney - RAM or Band On The Run, Lennon - Imagine, Ringo - Ringo, Harrison - All Things Must Pass.
They all peaked not long after The Beatles split.
The NHL mourns the passing of Ron Ellis, a life-long Toronto Maple Leaf and 1967 Stanley Cup winner who represented Team Canada at the 1972 Summit Series and was an executive at the Hockey Hall of Fame. Our thoughts are with his family and countless fans and friends in hockey.

I’ll have the original, thanks. While the new mix is, sonically, better, tinkering with the random radio sounds (ie the incorporation of King Lear) and the fade out doesn’t work for me. I think both of those elements contributed to the unique “weirdness” of the song.
How many times does this lesson need to be taught? Major sporting events - Olympics, World Cup - are the biggest con game going in terms of taxpayers of a particular city/country footing the bill and reaping negligible economic benefit. Buyer beware.

“Ice cream guy wreaking havoc in your neighbourhood? I had that problem. I used the Jiffy app and it was fixed. Immediately. A pro came to do the job. It was guaranteed. Even better, the guy power washed my barbecue afterwards….”
Agreed Robyn. Sadly, there is an entire generation of consumers who don’t believe they should have to pay for content - music, podcasts, news, entertainment and so on. It ends exactly where it is headed: a world full of disinformation and blogTO’s.
Truly stop with the paywall complaints. There are fewer and fewer and fewer places out there doing original journalism. Subscribe and support your favs or they'll be gone.

I love the game, but have to admit stuff like this is why it isn’t taken seriously as a sport by most of the sports world in most nations.

This is truly an absolutely miserable city in which to (not) move around. It’s tough to drive in many big cities. Big difference being that a well run and dependable transit system is usually an option (see London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, NYC). In Toronto we don’t have that.
First time Toronto traffic has beaten me in … possibly ever. Father’s Day Dinner rescheduled on account of the worst gridlock I’ve experienced.
DVP closed and summer construction plus weekend traffic equals took us almost 2 hours to go nowhere and turn around and go home.
I get that Max Verstappen is one of the greatest, and we should all appreciate watching him in his prime. But, **yawn** completely takes away interest in watching F1 races. They’re over after a few laps.

He taught me at Ryerson back in the early 80s. He was an excellent teacher. My lasting impression: a pro who didn’t take himself or the business too seriously. A lesson I’ve tried to heed.
This was inevitable. Private companies don’t want to spend money, they want to make it. When legislation demands investment, they’re out - and society holds the bag. Thank Mike Harris for this. He put the legislation in place to privatize elder care; his friends got rich.

! I loved working in radio and still think that, when done well (rare in Canada, thanks Bell and Rogers) it’s the best medium. A few Canadian stations that get it right that I love listening to:

….this sharply dressed man pushes open the studio door while we’re on the air, walks in and says: “Hey fellas, how are ya?” He sat down, put on a headset and talked sports with us for about 10 minutes. - mostly baseball, as I recall. What a thrill. What a legend.
