He's suggesting: If SA loses access to AGOA due to Afriforum lobbying, it will be an own-goal. If SA loses access to AGOA, but it is not due to Afriforum lobbying, then Afriforum is less effective than he thinks they claim to be. Personally, I note SA is not out of AGOA, so it's premature for Gareth to be bitchy on the topic.

Malema was spouting his racism when he was in the ANC, without sanction. He was eventually kicked out for pissing off Jacob Zuma (president at the time) by calling for Zuma's resignation, not his overt racism. His party, EFF, only dipped to 9% of the vote because another black nationalist party, MKP, with better funding was started by the same Jacob Zuma (using his ill-gotten gains no doubt), who left the ANC under a cloud of corruption. He funded mass violence in SA to avoid prison. Google "July riots South Africa" to get a sense. I don't think you quite get how volatile SA can become in a very short period of time.

@africanDerv @valavoosh Nope. Sophiatown residents got R40k ea. Ask cadres what is happening to the money for land claims. Resolving all land claims does not suit the ANC's NDR agenda.

Alternatively, the ANC is intentionally mismanaging the process, particularly by reducing funding & corruption (Sophiatown claimants got R40k ea - where is the rest of the money going???). There are also competing claims on the same land in some cases, so EWC won't solve those issues except to enable ANC-linked cronies to get their way at the expense of others.

I don't understand this logic at all. If you believe AfriForum is so influential, then if anything, it has decreased the amount of influence the USA has on SA sovereignty by getting their money out of our affairs. And let's face it, the general population & the ANC don't care enough about a few hundred thousand HIV deaths (Mbeki commanded the largest majority of votes the ANC ever had). There's no real risk of *that* being the reason they lose power. What's the fuss? I think they're just embarrassed to have been caught out.
