Councillors call for break up of Highland Council. "Bigger is definitely not better and that's been proven over the last 30 years since we've had this system of mega unitary authorities.โ Smaller local councils would deliver better results for locals.

@JohnLewisRetail weโre having to use our imagination. After superb redesign of our living room by Jane Reid, Edinburgh Home Design consultant, weโre still waiting for our furniture delivery scheduled for 6 December. 3 calls, 2 complaints and an escalation without response.
Christmas is all about using your imagination. For example, if we try really hard, we can just about convince ourselves the back of the tree is as beautifully decorated as the front ๐๐

What a great appointment. Yvette Hopkins @vikingwayfarer will be a fantastic asset to and ambassador for @CaledonianNews A hard act to follow Rob Woodwardโs successful tenure but Yvette will rise to that challenge.

And that collaborative leadership needs mutual respect between central and local government and between both of those spheres (not tiers!) of government and the third sector. Currently feels more top down commissioner/provider rather than genuine partnership.
@RobertonEsther @BuildLocalScot Totally agree. Years ago Christie identified the need for better prevention & early intervention, both of which need greater decentralisation, yet nothing changed. We also need far better leadership & collaboration to address that implementation gap.

Growing question for me is what is meant by public sector reform? The phrase is fairly meaningless without a clear statement of purpose and direction. The shift for me needs to be about reducing duplication, sharing power and being more community driven. @BuildLocalScot
Important report from @AuditScotland published today which needs to be widely read. All politicians & parties have a responsibility to be honest with the public about the scale of reform needed & the difficult choices ahead. These issues cannot be fixed in one electoral cycle

Interesting trend.
1 good thing happening in the UK: Policies supporting Employee-Ownership sparked a MASSIVE increase in retiring owners selling companies to their workers. Recently Canada has started to improve its EO options. If we do it right, we could see a generational shift in ownership.

@puffedtweet Now thatโs interesting as I donโt recognise any of those names. Will have to check them out but like you I do love CJ ooops, Alison Janney.

So puzzled that more people havenโt been tweeting about this. One of the best things weโve watched in recent years.
Late to the party but just binged 2 series of #TheDiplomat and bloody loved it!

Whilst this might be a contributory factor I donโt believe itโs quite that simple. Other factors, poverty being one of the most significant, play a major part.
Obesity has a simple cause: the food industry is poisoning us A House of Lords report has made clear that obesity in the UK, and all the many diseases that flow from it, has one cause - and that is the dire food that food industry now supplies, that is poisoning us all. There is no pill that solves this problem, whatever Wes Streeting might say. Only radical reform of food regulation can solve this crisis - and save the economy.

And his contribution to decent housing for all will have contributed to a healthier and happier population. Housing is such a critical part of public health. Another reason we need to tackle the housing emergency as a matter of urgency.
A timely reminder that Nye was Minister of Health and Housing .. not just hospitals or indeed solely the NHS!

My recollection is that David Kerrโs report in 2005 had wide-ranging support but as is too often the case, few of his recommendations were implemented. Perhaps we should revisit that as a starting point. We have an implementation gap not a strategy gap - and not just in the NHS.
This is really good on the tendency of the NHS in Scotland to be the subject of endless strategy reports - ten in recent years - without follow-on action of significant scale or consequence.
