I was glad to have a played a role in this change. Back in 2018, when I was Chairman of the Appropriations Agriculture Subcommittee, working with Sec. of Ag. Sonny Perdue and the Trump Administration, we created the ReConnect Program to build out rural broadband infrastructure.
In 2019, the state was ranked 47th in the U.S. for broadband connectivity. Fast forward to 2024, Alabama currently ranks 24th on that same list.
