@smithdanj1 I totally agree with you here, but is it possible that rather than having "decades of economic education," people ever really understood the benefits of free trade, and they only supported it because of societal conventions + trust in institutions, both of which have eroded?

This thread starts with a chilling and heartbreaking assessment of where we've come with recent growth, but turns surprisingly beautiful and inspiring by the end. Great stuff @AustinTunnell
Just made the drive Friday from OKC to Austin-and 2.5 hours into the drive, once you hit the outskirts of Fort Worth, it's non-stop 4 hours of anti-human, stress-inducing, soul-destroying, apocalyptic concrete-corporate-industrial-chaotic-death-trap-wasteland. Thats not hyperbole

@urbanistvc @jasonjoyride Incredible. This trailer hit me right in the feels. I totally agree stories are a powerful way to inspire great achievements. Having a glimpse of the bigger storyline helps us see why our good work really matters.

@sog_on_bird_app @larsiusprime This is a really good answer! More generally, the bottleneck of utopia could be some deeper aspect of human character. Without moral advancement, the greatest intellectual advancements may only lead to marginal improvements in human quality of life.
