Disability, Chronic Illness & Mental Health Advocate . Dublin South Central Sinn Féin. Cathaoirleach Charlie McGlade Cumann 🇮🇪 Níl tuile dá mheád nach dtránn
My sister got my hair done for me as a gift going through radiation. The treatment really impacts my skin and hair quality and she wants me to feel galánta (beautiful) regardless. It's the little thing's in life that keep me going. I'm so very blessed 🙌 (blonde's have more fun)
We've a taxi crisis in Dublin. I've been waiting since 11:30 stranded in town, and no taxi will take me because Drimnagh is "too close" (not enough money) I've done 35k steps today, I'm disabled I can't walk home. This is actually outrageous and the city centre is unsafe.
The use of the word "Prime Minster" in relation to Irish politics this week really bugs me. It's Taoiseach. Teachta Dála. Seanadóirí. Can we not anglicise the Oireachtas? I'm no Gaeilgeoir, but we must preserve commonly used terms as gaeilge as much as we can to promote gaeilge!
Three men I know have died by suicide between the end of November and now. And I say men loosely as one was still a child. One was a friend. One an ex partner. We have a mental health crisis. A suicide epidemic. If suicide is this high in one area of Dublin, imagine nationally.
My best friend, who is such a home bird and adores Dublin, just told me she's moving to Canada. She has no other opinions, herself and her partner can't afford to live here anymore. While I'm heartbroken- I know this is one of the only opinions available to most young people 💔
Folk's, Bertie Ahern is actually the final straw. Nope. We do not want that negative energy in 2023. This isn't like Neil Diamond going on a comeback tour....he's an absolute crook. He doesn't get to have a redemption arc or a second season. Just GO away! Sincerely!
I waited till I was 26 to join twitter. I don't believe fighting with strangers on the Internet or nitpicking can count as progression. Last night I was subject to absolutely vile comments over supporting Mary Lou. Fragile masculinity and misogyny is alive and well 😶🙄
Off to see an exhibition on the women prisoners of the Irish civil war in Kilmainham gaol followed by dinner and drinks with the women of Sinn Féin Dublin South Central 😌 No better way nor better company of a sunday!
Every single year my dad gets me a singular rose. 26 year's year's straight. He gets up early for work so he left it beside a picture of my nanny & grandad. I'm named Róisín because my lips looked like little rose buds when I was born. I think I'll always be his rose. 🥰🌹❤️
He didn't die. He was murdered. I've had the fascists spitting vitriol in my own face. Murderous thugs. For not speaking English? Do you "Patriots" remember when the English forbade us from speaking as Gaeilge? Yanno before 10 million of us Irish became migrants!
Where do you go with these murdering thugs.
'You speak English, you are in Ireland, you are not at home, you have no respect for our country. This is Ireland...'
I hope they find them and lock them away for a long time.
Ladies and gentlemen....Uachtarán Shinn Féin...The next Taoiseach of Ireland. The woman who inspired me to become politicised 👏 The people will make their voices loud and clear when it comes to the ballot box 🗳 And
@sinnfeinireland
will have the candidates you deserve!
Great interview. Big audience cheer for SF running enough candidates to be an over all majority. Another big cheer for the next Government without FF & FG. Well done

Today we remember the McGurk's Bar Massacre that occured 51 years ago, on the 4th of Dec 1971. To this day, the families, relatives and community groups are denied the truth, justice. The legacy bill of shame has to go. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.
We have to sit down with TFI and the TTNH and plan for better transport within the capital, particularly at night. We are a developed country working with subpar transportation. I no longer feel safe going out because I can't guarantee I'll make it home safely. Sin é!
Fantastic day canvassing in South Belfast today. It's always a pleasure to be out knocking on doors and listening to the community. Final Reminder: Register by 11:59pm on 28 April to vote in the local government elections in the North of Ireland on 18 May. Vótáil Sinn Féin 🗳
Last Christmas, I'd saved money for Christmas, I used that money to buy essential goods for people in direct provision. They didn't even have tampons and toothbrushes. Now we have people going down to East Wall for a "vigil," which is intimidation and abuse of asylum seekers.
"Well, I have gotten by twenty-seven years, so that is something. I may die, but the Republic of 1916 will never die. Onward to the Republic and liberation of our people."
We honour Óglach Bobby Sands on the anniversary of his death, 42 year's ago after 66 days on Hunger strike!
Here are pictures of me the day after I buried my ex partner who died by suicide and I had been dropped as a candidate for the elections. Days after, I got up and spoke at an Ard Fheis between going out to the car park to scream, throw up and have panic attacks because the man I
Update: I managed to BRIBE a lovely Taxi man who took pity on me because I was being harrassed by drunken men to take me home for €40! He said he only stopped because I wasn't drunk and was a young girl alone. While I'm grateful to be home....this is a disgrace.
When I post anything in support of Sinn Féin , I get comments/messages threatening me. Heavy stuff that only an unhinged person would threaten a young woman of differing politcal view's with.
If someone threatened to sexually assault their daughter, it'd be a big deal!
Housing is a right ✅️
Plain and simple. Right now, I'm 26 living in my ma and da's gaff, and I'm actually grateful I have them. Because as a disabled person who spends every cent to my name on healthcare, I'd be homeless without them. And I'd be dead waiting for HSE treatment.
I got really good medical news in todays hospital appointment. The same day, Mary Lou returns. Not even illness holds us shinners back 👏👌 Rested, recovered, and ready to deliver results!
I am fully recovered, back at work and more determined than ever to lead the change that I know you so desperately want to see.

If someone ever described me as "the wife of" or any description other than my name and merits as an autonomous human being I'd hit the roof. Mary O'Dowd is her name. USE IT! Who a person's married to is irrelevant 🙃
After hours of brain and spinal surgery...I'm on the otherside. The painful road to recovery. My little therapy dog is protecting me and watching me every step of the way. This is the most painful yet 💔 but the support and love around me keeps me going. GRMA to all ❤️❤️❤️
I'm not exactly sure who in Ógra or Sinn Féin who organised this, but getting flowers delivered to me on rare disease day has been the highlight of my year so far 😍🥺 I'm the luckiest girl alive. The friend's I have are worth more than their weight in gold. Grá mór 🥺😍❤️
Iconic behaviour out of
@ClareDalyMEP
👏👏👏 Tell the propaganda machine (RTÉ) how it is! They've shown nothing but contempt and disregard for Clare whilst elected, so don't swoop in on her loss for a soundbite or to give fake commiserations!

KOURTNEY KENNY ELECTED TO SOUTH EAST INNER CITY ✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️
SHE'S ONLY GONE AND DONE IT 💚💚💚🙏⭐️
Kourtney Kenny, or should I say Cllr Kourtney Kenny....the skies the limit for you gal. Your Ma is looking down on you today 🙌
This is a bizarre choice of words. It's ableist for one. It's steeped in classism, dehumanising, and makes light of the intellect and ability of young people. We're not supporting SF as if we're riddled with disease. We support them because you've run our nation into the ground.
As a person with a rare brain disease I can attribute to just how difficult it is for me to simply exist. To have MS and be one of the best TD's we have ..what a hero ✊️Sending so much strength and healing your way!
Im getting a little bit of stick for my clothes in the Dail yesterday Mostly justified 😂
I have MS. I relapsed & had chemotherapy
The cap is to cover the bald head & the cardigan was a last minute purchase to combat the cold
More functional than fashionable.
I’m on the mend 🤞
A former Tusla CPO, a supposed disability advocate...yet voted to lift a ban on evictions, that effect both children and disabled people 😏 Remember this at the ballot box 🗳 You don't represent Dublin South Central nor the disability community. You're part of the problem.
As a former Tusla child protection officer, I have seen first hand the difficulties people have to go through to access to disability services.
There needs to be a rapid upscaling in staffing and resourcing to improve access to these vital services.
What a mild evening! Off to attend an event to remember 25 years since the Good Friday Agreement and celebrate an overwhelming victory for SF in the recent local elections in the North of Ireland 💚
Someone said I look like a cheap hooker in my election photos 🙃 I haven't been a political candidate a wet day, and they're already at it. The level of abuse and misogyny women in politics receive, particularly successful and high-profile politicians, is staggering.
Incredibly disappointing outcome. Sets a negative precedent & creates a chilling effect for other women who would consider reporting defamation and abuse. Solidarity to Michelle O'Neill & the many women in politics forced to face such dehumanising & misogynistic behaviour.

I did a Mini Marathon 4 months out from Brain surgery for Multiple Sclerosis! I physically couldn't walk anymore. I only did it to raise funds. I'll suffer for a week. I've Multiple medical conditions. Thank you to everyone who comment understanding and not being ableist!
"How a society treats its most vulnerable is always the measure of its humanity."
I'm in tears tonight. I've had the honour of aiding those in direct provision and asylum seekers in the past. To know that such vitriol and cruelty exists among us, makes me sick.
🗳 It's official 🙌👏
I am delighted to announce that I have been selected to contest the 2024 Local Elections representing the Ballyfermot-Drimnagh LEA for Sinn Féin. I am one of three candidates chosen to represent our electoral area, focusing on Drimnagh and Walkinstown.
It's only a year since I had brain+spinal surgery, I've not had to use a wheelchair in month's, I've had rounds of radiation, ablation of the nerves, every medical treatment known to man...and I'm still here. I'm still fighting. I'm living. I'm winning. Has me SO emotional!
I'm getting myself all ready for tomorrow as my admission time is 6 am. All hibiscrubbed and hair washed because I've to be up at 4 am to take pre-op meds. I love an early admission as I'm the first in theatre for the day. Fasting away. Last surgery and treatment of 2024 ✨️👏🥰
I am so proud of Mamy. We are from the same LEA, and it's been a pleasure getting to work alongside her. You all know I've had a devastating last year, and Mamy was always on hand to call me, check in, and make sure I was supported. She does more for Cherry Orchard than most.
I completed the Mini Marathon yesterday for MS Ireland! I had a high pain and symptoms day yesterday but I DID IT! I raised a phenomenal amount of money, the charity itself got so many donations. I'm so proud of myself for doing this 4 month's post surgery and I smiled every KM!
I, as a woman, will not take threatening messages, over a tweet that had 200 likes ffs 🤣 but I am sickened that these men walk among us. They are in our society threatening sexual violence over political preferences. Reported, deleted, blocked. Thank you....Next!
Cllr Daithí Doolan JUST ELECTED ✅️ For Ballyfermot-Drimnagh. He has retained his seat and restored my faith in humanity that we'll have a phenomenal councillor still representing us in my area.
I've lost my voice, my sanity, the feeling in my legs but not my spirit and PRIDE!
I'd be joining her if I didn't have my illness, treatment and health keeping me here. We're going to hug a lot of our friends goodbye over the next few years. All because of a government that failed them. Ireland, the country that exports our most wonderful and talented people!
A reminder with Easter this weekend to wear your Easter lily to honor our patriot dead. You can get them online at the Sinn Féin shop, or if your passing me, I always carry spares in my pocket. Also, I will be attending the Moore St Commemoration come Sunday. Bígí Linn!
When someone asks what your Easter Lily badge is for..so you proceed to tell them. Only for them to go off on an absolute baseless self-indulgent rant on how "uneducated" I am.
Like please go talk to someone interested in debating. I'm purely having a quiet pint thank you 😊
Every Sunday my dad does a roast. And it's one of my favourite parts of the week. We're all so busy living our lives during the week but come Sunday we sit down and enjoy dinner together. I know in 20 year's time I'll be so glad of all the memories I have with my mam and dad 💛
I've heard more from Dana Erlich over the past month in the media than Dr. Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid. You'd swear it was the Israelis who are being ethnically cleansed. Why give the Israeli ambassador more of a platform than the Palestinian? I can answer that question myself.
What a beautiful day it is this Saturday 😍 and a busy one!
Maireann croí éadrom i bhfad. Whatever you do this weekend, do Whatever makes your heart happy and your soul feel good 🌟💚
I just block people when they come at me with drivel. But to suggest that I was passed around like a joint (in a sexual manner) amongst people in direct provision, all because I said I help and support those in direct provision is vile. The misogyny has got to stop. That's SICK!
My dad came home from doing the shopping and has gotten me PRIDE laces after making a donation to belong to. I've always been open about being bisexual. But usually bi folk don't feel like we actually belong during Pride. It was such a "I see you" moment from my dad. Bród 🏳️🌈♥️
I've to carry a "please offer me a seat" card because I don't look sick, and nobody believes me when I need to sit downstairs. I cannot drive due to my disability. So while we push the use of public transport, we need to remember for many PWD it's our only mode of transport.
LOUISE DUNNE ELECTED FOR TALLAGHT SOUTH 💚💚💚💚💚
Tallaght South did the right thing. They voted for change ✅️🗳 They backed a hard-working, passionate, strong woman. A pioneer of working-class communities, a diligent, hard worker who gives it all for her community 👏👍⭐️

Just be mindful that no disabled person needs to tell their medical history on the internet. I'm quite happy to however. And I get the confusion. The stigma is hard enough. I get disrespect was not your main aim now ♥️
I grew up in a generation that introduced filters on photo's in my late teens. Before that, we used to bring out a digital camera on a night out. I use filters. But I hate them. Here's a rare photo of me with a flash only. I need to LOVE my face, not a filtered version.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam. May she rest in peace. A nation mourns her beautiful soul.

Tomorrow will be my first Mini Marathon since being diagnosed with a rare brain condition that changed the trajectory of my life. The Last time I ran in 2019, I was able-bodied and healthy. In 2023, I've gone through 3 brain surgery, 2 spinal, many procedures, months in hospital
I lasted exactly 2 hours on dating apps in 2023. The first red flag was a 40 year old man asking for my snapchat, the second was a gym bro asking me if I tried yoga to heal my brain condition.
Nope, that's me done. Maybe I'll date in 2024! Or adopt more Dog's instead 😌
If anyone comes on my page speaking ill of the dead or being disrespectful in any way, shape or form about ANY of my Republican comrades, those who mourn, fought their life alongside .I will just block you 🚫 you picked the wrong troll. Be gone... you're out of sight and mind.
If you haven't watched this on netflix, you should. A depiction of a horrendous Massacre. But so much more than that. The story of a loyal and brave true bandmate and friend, who never stopped seeking justice and truth. A huge thank you to Stephen for being so raw and vulnerable!
When I got a call from Hollywood about including The Miami Showband story with the untold stories of Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, Jam Master Jay, Sam Cooke, Victor Jara, Robert Johnson and Solomon Linda, I thought it was a prank call and nearly hung up the phone. Thank you

Two PHENOMENAL women in Kathleen and Lynn from Sinn Féin to now represent Ireland in Europe 🇪🇺 🙌 I'd love a 3rd woman in Michelle, but what a proud moment for all mná!
This is the kind of message to be spreading to the women of Ireland today 💚 We will be well represented!
Wasn't expecting this traction. Lot's of positive comments and feedback, a few trolls. I am going to highlight our transport issues and views expressed heading into the summer season with relevant departments. I also recognise that this is a nationwide issue.
Remembering Ashling Murphy today ❤️
I also want to acknowledge the eleven other women who's lives we're so senseless, callously and brutally ended in 2022.
Society needs to change. WE need to ensure that every woman is safe from gender-based violence and femicide in Ireland.
The Green Paper on Disability reform has been scrapped. It's been a long journey to get to this stage and exhausting one for Disability activists like myself having to explain every intricate detail of our life just to be afforded dignity, it's a huge win for community activists
My sister took a photo thinking I was asleep. I'm actually in an intense pain flare here. And look at the support from Freya 🐶 She will not leave my side until my symptoms subside. This is what Trigeminal Neuralgia looks like. It's paralysing.

"and then we get back at it because that's what Sinn Féiners do." 🥺 That's all I have to say, too, We don't stop. We don't give up. We need to have those hard conversations and make serious adjustments. Listen not just to each other in an echo chamber but the people too!
Out training tonight for the Mini Marathon. I just love Irish people. We had a glimmer of sun today and I jogged past a gaff having a full BBQ, speaker on, tshirts off, just having a ball 🥳🤣
At risk of sounding double my age, there's a GRAND stretch in the evening in Drimnagh
Another year, another step closer to unity and change 💚🙏
To all of the people I have met along the way, you've been a blessing to me. Grá mór to all my comrades especially the one who pointed out my address being visible when I posted this 1st!
16 year old me didn't think she was pretty enough, thin enough, smart enough, cool enough. I felt I was never enough. Modelling probably wasn't a good choice for someone whose self-esteem was so low. At 27, I realised I was more than enough ❤️ I always have been. Love to lil me!
So glad my last event before surgery was such a positive one. Families, Friends, neighbours, kids and Dog's gathered...one message: Everyone is welcome. No if's or but's. I grew up in a kind Drimnagh, a welcoming one. I want it to be a place for all, for generations to come 💙
It's been 2 weeks since my friend passed away...because we were both battling illness we'd give each other gifts & cards to cheer us up in dark times💐
This is the last bouquet of flower's she sent me. I just keep staring at this picture 💔 What I'd give to see her one last time!
I genuinely wonder how my sister and I are related. This is the beautiful spread she puts on for the Dubs match...I pour crisps and jellies into bowls and ask if ya need a glass for your can 🤣
I'm an adult actively trying to relearn gaeilge. I have a rare brain condition, which really makes retention of a language difficult, but I try. It's an act of decolonisation. Freedom from the tongue of oppression. If anyone struggles with basic terms, it's only a google away!
There's a long list of names you can call me. A career politician is never one of them. I fight because I care, because I'm furious, because if I don't stand up for my generation and people like me in a working-class area, WHO WILL?
I'm DONE commenting on this thread. Nitpicking doesn't count as progression and some people on this app are deply unhappy, pathetic, ableist morons . I'll be turning off comments. Sin é!

on his first EU election campaign, making it to the 13th count with 11,822 votes. You'll now help advance Lynn's vote on transfers 👏🙌 delighted we'll have you locally for 5 more years as Cllr, but I am so proud of your EU campaign!
To everyone who shared their story yesterday, who messaged me, opened up to me. I am so proud of you. I saw people who normally don't post about their illness, post yesterday for awareness 😍 That's incredibly brave and you are seen, heard, you matter and together we are strong
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha. The government, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. And all the parties who want to be in power, pull the fucking finger out on mental health. If you want to lead a govt be a FIERCE advocate on this! Enough is enough. There's no help. No party seems to care.
Devastating news to wake up to this morning 💔 On behalf of Rose's Cumann, Charlie McGlade, we want to express deep gratitude for having known Rose and devastation, particularly for her best friend Jim, on her passing. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam. Rose, you were a rebel 💚
Sad news. Rose Dugdale passed away this morning. She was a true revolutionary who inspired others. She dedicated her life to Irish freedom. Our thoughts are with her friends & family. I hope the memories give you some comfort at this sad time.
Delighted you called this out. Just been elected MEP. There's thousands of things interesting and special about Lynn and all women. Our physical appearance doesn't isn't one of them.
Nobodys is discussing male MEP's appearances. Misogyny, alive and well! Go celebrate a chara👏
'Twas the night before Pride...and I'm marinating in extra dark tan and semi-permenant purple hair dye 🏳️🌈🥳 I'll have spare love heart sunglasses, a full glitter and face gem makeup kit, badges, necklaces ect so if you see me marching with Sinn Féin just come over, makeovers on me
Christy is so loved, by Dubs and the nation ❤️
I'm sending so much healing and peace his way and to his family. He is an icon. Anyone who's had the privilege of meeting him knows how special he is. A fighter 💪 ❤️
The family of Christy Dignam have issued a statement announcing that the singer is under palliative care at his home.
The statement reads: "Since December, Christy has been at home and is being cared for lovingly by family, with the support of a palliative care team."

The band member LUNGED across the street at him, & the bandmates were only happy to jump in, yet you're calling the fella with the dog the provocateur? I have nothing against organised parades and marches. But you don't start on someone for crossing the street then play victim.
I wasn't born disabled. Becoming disabled HUMBLED me. I do not know how any disabled people are coping during this COL crisis. My medical expenses for January alone were over €600 . I'm not only down a career due to illness but an income too.
Many disabled people already lived in a cost of living crisis, even before the current inflation spiral. We are asking that this be factored into the forthcoming
#CostOfLiving
package from government.
#CostOfDisability
I wasn't born disabled. I got sick in my 20s. I can tell you now the financial burden of being disabled is sickening. Your money isn't your own. It all goes on your health, often having to cut corners to make it work. Disabled people are suffering in this crisis.
If you wondered why a disability rights based campaign had to get involved in a
#CostOfLivingCrises
campaign well here’s why.
The state is now targeting people on disability payments, €230pw, to address an issue that stems from the abject poverty that PWD and their families
Ableism is alive and well in Ireland. I wouldn't expect JK to be educated on people with complex illnesses/disabilities but remember when you post shit like that people see it. Friends and family fighting battles you'll never know see it. And know exactly what you think of them.
Two people I am proud to know. I am proud to get to work with and campaign with. Rooted, relevant, and Republican voices for the working class. Maith Sibh 👏👍Aengus and Daithí have done phenomenal work for our area. I will always attest to that.
Proud to call

So you ask me why I'm political? I've a long list. I never knew politics was this ugly. Truthfully, I thought most politicians just don't care. It's worse than that. I lost 2 people I adored due to lack of healthcare in Ireland 4 months apart while battling illness myself.

Yesterday I attended a beautiful requiem mass for a 17 year old boy, a person I love dearly grandson who died by suicide. I spent last night panicking, making phone calls, texting, trying to locate another friend in crisis who sent me a goodbye message. She doesn't want to live.
My dad raised me to be a strong Republican woman. He always allowed me to be myself and encouraged me to be a trailblazer from the time I was old enough to talk. He let me figure my own way out in this world, even when I caused him sleepless nights. Dad believes in me always.
This photo perfectly encapsulates me departing Béal Feirste after long weekends burning the candle at both ends.
You can visibly see my tiredness, exhaustion, and contentment 😌
It is a pleasure to spend time with those I love in a place that holds a special place in my heart
Excuse me? BREED more? As if we are cattle. Never mind these candidates wanting to ban contraception and abortion, I won't need either in their "new Ireland" as men like this push me to a life of abstinence and celibacy!
