Car parks tend to be owned and operated by the district and borough councils. I completely agree with the principle, however. Sadly, local grid connection points in and around car parks usually aren’t up to taking the power. A lot of work needed from UKPN (in our part of the UK) to get the local distribution grid where we need it. Too often we talk about national transmission infrastructure and not enough about the local grid, which is - in many places - creaking.

Another large NSIP coming forward in Suffolk.
We are preparing to respond to another large solar farm and battery storage facility proposal. It will be around 1,500 acres, impacting Yaxley, Brome, Gislingham, Mellis, Eye & Occold. Due to its size, it will require government approval. Read more:

@victorshannock @suffolkcc @HicksCllr There’s no merger with Norfolk on the table, that’s where all the terminology starts to get confusing. The proposed mayor would be of Norfolk and Suffolk but the new unitary councils would not cross county boundaries.

@EDP24 A lot of misinformation here. Nowhere has “one ‘unitary’ council for Norfolk and Suffolk” been proposed. A minimum population size of c500,000 & maximum of c1m has been mentioned. That points to two to four, possibly five, new unitary councils across the two counties.

@DarrenTurnerCP @spectator So pretty much everyone who works, then? Or, in your eyes, is there a threshold where one gets sufficiently comfortable and thus loses the title of a ‘working person’?

@D_Crane1 @spectator I don’t disagree on the personal tax allowance. Fiscal drag has hit hard and the level needs lifting asap.

@DarrenTurnerCP @spectator Happy Christmas, Darren! Are you any better at defining ‘working people’ than Starmer’s lot? Why not give it a go?
