It's funny how some people act like James Gunn's Superman doing wholesome stuff like saving dogs is really overdone and cartoonish, when Superman being serious & sombre has mostly been the go-to tone in live-action for nearly 20 years. If anything, this is what's overdone.
This movie is a Saturday morning cartoon in live action. I’m sure some fans that want this. I for one am tired of this. I have seen cartoons of Superman for 45 years now. Give my back an adult Superman who actually has struggles and I’m not talking about wrinkled red underwear.

For all the talk about Batman's no-kill rule, a thing I appreciate in The Batman is it shows him almost beat a guy to death in a literally adrenaline-fueled stupor, and after calming down he's clearly overcome with guilt, and this partly causes him to rethink his entire approach.

Cos he showed a lot of potential in Man of Steel, and then Snyder just had him sulk in the shadows with minimal dialogue for the majority of Batman v Superman, then had him in Justice League for glory shots.

This is literally Superman, leading, formulating a viable plan, and giving hope to everyone that they can do this by his actions, not his words.
