If this isn’t me to a I don’t know what is… lately I have been feeling not so confident in my content and in myself. Thinking maybe I’m really not worth watching. @TheKamiFather Give this a look bro
Let's talk about Male Vtubers and their struggle in the Vtubersphere. Oh, I've said that they matter before and I've said that they need more confidence, but I've never really gone into the details of why they don't do well. While yes, some may immediately bring up that a few male vtubers are bad actors. This is less common than one might think. Mostly because if you tally them up with female vtubers who are also bad actors, they come out to be about even. It's just that bad actors among the female side are hardly talked about. Double standards do indeed exist, but that is a topic for another time. No, the issue comes down to, as I brought up prior, confidence. Many males don't think they're interesting enough. They don't think their designs are appealing enough. They don't think they have what it takes. And the reason for this is because the majority of the Vtuber fanbase are, surprise surprise, comprised of males. And they're there for the females. So naturally, they won't want to watch a male vtuber, or at least, the ones who are just there to fulfil their parasocial fantasies. It's why quite a few males opt to go the femboy or Babiniku route. Meet these fans in the middle. They can thirst over the avatar, which may keep them around. But this is only a half-baked measure at best. No, what allows a Male Vtuber to truly excel and to attain confidence in themselves in their craft is to stop comparing themselves to the other side. And this is advice that anyone can follow. The only person you should be comparing yourself to is the person you were yesterday. Have you grown? Then you've made progress. You're better than you were. Therefore, you're successful in your endeavors. While getting comments that you're not interesting may hurt, don't let it get to you. Those are merely people passing by. You will cultivate your own fanbase, your own community, identity. And therein lies the answer. Being confident is not wrong. Appreciating your own achievements is not arrogance or ego. Loving yourself is not a sin. Stop allowing this site to convince you that you don't matter. Stand up and capsize the boat they told you not to rock. Don't play the game, shatter it! Break it into a million tiny pieces. Forge your own path. Succeed where they say you'll fail. Continue walking when they think you'll stop. Do it for the you who started this journey. For the friends who believe in you. And most importantly. Do it to spite all the people who said you couldn't because you were a Male Vtuber.
