Drake butchered the message so badly folks had to go back and listen for themselves. Incredible.

@bradbatt This is a BIZARRE level of cap that I just don’t understand. Then again he said Haitians are eating cats and dogs so how surprised should I be.

Not a pilot here, just a Black person in corporate America. Know that if you see me somewhere you don’t expect, I’m the coldest one in the room. I had to jump through hurdles made just for me, and I did it with excellence. Believe that.

@C0URTNEYC0 @JamilahLemieux Oooooh. He hates Black women. I def realized he hated himself from doing that to a Black person before but this gives me more clarity. Thank you.

As a reminder: poor people are poor because they don’t have money, not because they don’t know the advantages of a ROTH IRA vs a Traditional, or the differences between a bond and a CD. We need wealth redistribution through equitable programs.
Jayson Tatum announced a $1 million partnership to promote financial literacy for low-income families, and cites growing up in a single-family home as the formative experience that inspired him. “My mom was 19 when she had me, living check to check.”

@MightyKeef This moment / era is really revealing how many men don’t know what women look like. Which is crazy.

Last year, 2 days before my planned paternity leave, I was laid off with 11% of employees at @SurveyMonkey. With folks getting laid off right now, let me share my personal lessons learned, which may help those going through it now. 1/x.

I won’t be tweeting much more about #Afrotech, but I’ll add this: y’all have to know that Black folks have been the most impacted by layoffs over the last 2 years. Why then would you charge ppl 800 to 1K dollars per ticket? Is it about support or exploitation?.

@dimithryv @deray YO… I have mad questions??? What was the medium? Did you draw this? Is this a photo?? How could you do this at 14-15 years old?!.

@THEHORRORGOTH Man… yes. I still remember that moment. It’s like I felt a fresh wave of magic, and yet the movie was over.

@KevOnStage I thought I was the only one. The hate on Pam was immersion-breaking lol. I couldn’t ever get into the show because of it, even as a kid.

@jamesjonesesq No our uncles and dads were the last generation to hand that down. SMH. A shame.

Takeaway #1: Companies don’t exist to protect you or your interests. Companies function to protect its own, which include reducing costs (e.g,, you). Don’t internalize that. 3/x.

Takeaway #2: Being laid off is traumatic y’all. It’s no secret that we need money to survive. In many ways it can feel like a betrayal (it is). You may feel like a failure (this is a lie). Honor those feelings. Give yourself space to grieve. 4/x.

@PJaccetturo The disgusting audacity of you to do this. You are a colonizer, a thief of joy, and a fraud.

Takeaway #5: Internalize that work is different now. We’re in a late stage capitalist society. Companies aren’t making long-term bets on employees like that anymore. Treat yourself like the star you are. Look up every 18-24 months for the next gig. It’s okay to do so! 7/x.

@TheBaddestMitch For someone who is seen with and brags about hanging out with rich white men, he sure does ask a lot of… goofy questions….

Takeaway #3: Negotiate your severance. Your anxiety or sense of defeat may have you thinking to just accept whatever they offer. Don’t do that. Get a lawyer and push for what *you* want and what *you* need. 5/x.

Takeaway #4: *After* you get that severance bag, if you can, give yourself space before jumping into the job market. Remember, grieve. Also, reflect on what you’ve learned, what you actually wanna do, and the culture you want to work for. 6/x.

A recent one: I created a product and created a million dollar pipeline in 6 months only to be told it was a bad idea, while also seeing it be copy and pasted by another team. Then, they laid me off 2 days before my paternity leave was supposed to start.

When @MAL___ said “I’ve realized people aren’t built like me.” I *genuinely* felt that. Morals, principles and respect are in short supply out here.

I’m not even gonna dogpile. Here are the 2016 exit polls. I will ask tho, respectfully: stop doing this. Black men vote overwhelmingly democrat in every election and have done so for the past 55+ years. We are not the boogeyman. Look at the numbers. We see what the reality is.
I truly believe that most WW have learned their lesson and would do right by Kamala. It’s the BM we have to worry about. 😭.

I’ll give you 4. #1 Internalized capitalism teaches you that any respect, advocacy, and support you receive is directly dependent upon the labor you exert. That is toxic and wrong. 🧵 (1/4).

There’s so much space to be creative while still being fun AND profitable. But it feels like #Afrotech is exploiting the very real desire Black ppl have for community (& financial security via career stability!). Too many people (and brands!) walk away disappointed each year.

@DrewMcCaskill Breh. As soon as they cut him off when he was trying to explain how supporting Black people benefits all of society, I was over it. Then he directly said he is for cash reparations, only for folks in the comments to say he didn’t.

These hurdles are exhausting. Most folks just want a FAIR experience at work. That’s what we all have the right to. Companies that create fair experiences win. That’s why I built @LivingCorporate. Follow + check us out.

@OfficiallyIce You need folks to explain to you the difference between two Black men and ego being out of control and a white man threatening to rape a Black man for defending Black women? You’re not a dumb man, so let’s own the fact that you’re being obtuse on purpose.
