The other thing I need ALL of my people to embrace is this: you cannot outperform, out accolade, out accomplish, etc., white supremacy. You cannot. It’s not a meritocracy. You’re mad because deep down, you still think it is, even if it’s unbalanced. It’s not.

Takeaway #2: Being laid off is traumatic y’all. It’s no secret that we need money to survive. In many ways it can feel like a betrayal (it is). You may feel like a failure (this is a lie). Honor those feelings. Give yourself space to grieve. 4/x.

Takeaway #5: Internalize that work is different now. We’re in a late stage capitalist society. Companies aren’t making long-term bets on employees like that anymore. Treat yourself like the star you are. Look up every 18-24 months for the next gig. It’s okay to do so! 7/x.

Closing this thread out: If I’m an individual spending over a thousand dollars, I expect a job interview (and offer). If I’m a brand spending 100-350x that, I expect thousands of viable candidates to hire from, vendors, and serious marketing. It’s not deep, but it is.
