In her presentation on Creating an Inclusive Landscape for Women, Mrs Sakinatou Balde, the Principal Officer for the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) initiative at the African Development Bank, outlined AFAWA’s efforts aimed at bridging the gender gap which she noted as estimated at $42 billion in access to finance for women Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) on the continent. The Reserve Bank established a Collateral Registry for movable assets to expand the range of qualifying collateral accepted by lenders as part of the broader reforms to promote access to finance and enhance financial inclusion.
