After 'decades of research...' we seem stuck and yet, leaders are still waiting for #evidence. Yet, we also know that "It’s not about getting people to follow you to the future — it’s about getting them to cocreate it with you". @WM2U_ @AnimateConsults
Decades of research into successful large scale change shows that it’s not about getting people in organisations to follow their leaders to the future - it’s about getting people to co-create the future. However, a change approach that seeks to engage everyone in the organisation may demand a new level of collaboration that leaders & managers aren't accustomed to and haven't been prepared for in a larger culture that has emphasised hierarchy & silos. This article from @mitsmr describes an organisational development approach to build "strength based teams", creating the fuel for genuine engagement and inclusion & the conditions for continuous innovation & improvement:

In my view, this why #actionresearch #coproduction and recognition of #complexity are so important - and - so difficult!
So much of our focus in trying to spread improvements is in "explicit" knowledge: toolkits, good practice databases, standardised pathways etc. Most of the content that AI repurposes from online resources is explicit knowledge. Yet the biggest opportunities are in "tacit" knowledge: the practical "know-how" rooted in people, their experiences, insights & judgements. Unlocking tacit knowledge is how organisations break past their internal barriers to innovate & improve. Thanks @tnvora for a striking new version of the explicit/tacit iceberg picture. Tanmay has also written an excellent blog on how to unlock tacit knowledge:

And mindful that #systemchange includes engagement with & challenge to established perspectives about #evidence, we want to have a wider dialogue about system change, & the place of evidence within it. @AnimateConsults @DouglasMcKelvie
Over 5 years of working with children & their families, we've learnt a lot - today WM2U, an approach funded by @thunterf and @bbccin, is sharing that knowledge in our new paper - read more here:
