I was made aware of this situation tonight. I have been in contact with local officials and I'm working with them to hopefully resolve the situation quickly. This type of behavior and language is abhorrent and has no place in Midvale or anywhere.

Utah should get rid of the caucus convention system. It should change to an open primary with the top two candidates regardless of party advancing to the general election. It would cut down on the extremist voices currently being amplified in our caucus convention system.
Bad things happen when a state tries to determine the process by which a political party chooses its candidates.
Utah has done that.

Our AG worked for years to support and prop up this organization. He did so using his elected position. There was no way to be that involved in an organization and be unaware of the massive fraud they were committing.

I am disappointed that HB 11 is now the law in Utah. I voted no to overturning the veto. I did vote in favor of the accompanying bill indemnifying our school districts because they should not have to bear the financial burden of the legislature's bad policies.

As a follow-up. I have spoken multiple times today with city officials who have been coordinating with the police department as well as prosecutors to look at hate crime charges. Conversations are also being had with the HOA.

This committee hearing was just political theater. If they really wanted to get the outcome they felt the law required, they would have used the hearing as an opportunity to see where the law was flawed and how they could improve it. Instead they just berated an educator.
One legislator said it was accepting “atheism and hedonism” to remove the Bible, but Davis School District officials said they just followed the law legislators wrote.
