Took this up in class couple of weeks ago but the PH and SK toppled their dictatorship around the same time. We were in comparable trajectories but 🇰🇷 undertook land reform in a way the 🇵🇭 did not and it's worth looking at why they're more developed + a successful democracy.
I'm basically restless right now but I think it's important that every Filipino with a misplaced nostalgia for martial law sees this. South Korea understands military rule is not something to aspire to nor want.

If there's any panic deserved in PH society it should be around the alarming rate of sexual abuse, incest, HIV and pregnancies (preteen, not just teen) among minors. Maybe the children's rights camp should produce viral ads that tell this story to show the public their side.

I started rewatching the series this week; it really informed my politics now. It never treated its audience as dumb kids, but as kids who could do social good. Not to mention Asian representation + anti-imperialism. This show is probably why millennials hate dictators, lol.
