After a brave fight w/cancer, I lost my father today. I’ll have plenty of time in the weeks & months ahead to think about how much I miss him, but I just want to say thank you for letting me be lucky enough to call you Dad.

It’s Northern Illinois week.
The last time I saw a game in Memorial Stadium was Minnesota last year with my dad. Never could I have imagined that it would be the last Husker game we would watch together.

Like any parent, this kiddo here means the world to me. At age 4, he was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum.
I dedicate today to the many wonderful teachers, specialists, friends/family & so many others who show him so much love every day.

(2/2) It’s a big deal because when we last took him to a spring game (2017), he didn’t make it through the tunnel walk/fireworks. In fact after that we couldn’t even drive by the stadium without “bad memories” coming back. But he seems ready to want to try it again. Proud of him!

This kiddo barely spoke any words at age 4. Now (age 7) he says the Pledge of Allegiance each morning and you can’t keep him quiet most days. Further proof of the importance of early diagnosis and treatment for autism.
