@D1SCO8 @The_Mexinadian There is absolutely ZERO chance the #lgrw resign Petry for next season. Actually 0.00000%.

@BrianFisherLORW You do realize that fans of most teams are doing this same tweet??? This is why you sign your core players as soon as you can for as long as you can because when the cap goes up, those contracts look beautiful.

I cannot wait for the Miller / Pettersson stories to start coming out now. Please 🙏 #Canucks

I hope Yzerman is watching this game closely and wasn’t in the bathroom for the Oilers 2nd goal. Holl and Gus are a disaster out there. Adam Boqvist is on waivers and is strides better than those guys. Put in the claim Stevie!! #lgrw

@OctopusThrower_ @The_Mexinadian Veleno is a slightly overpaid 4th liner. If another team values him then trade him! There are 25+ cheaper replacements. The article implies he is good PK but the wings don’t seem to think so. He has played 20 mins this year on one of the leagues worst PKs and results are poor.

@imDazzer @HockeyWithDevin This will turbo charge your view of McLellan. Yzerman was going to send Kasper down but McLellan tried him on line 1 for half a game shortly after being hired (I think it was against Ott) and asked for 1 more game to see how he performed and he hasn’t left that line since! #lgrw

Yzerman better be ready to put a $14 million 7 year deal in front of Rantanen or Marner on July 1. Trade Cat, Ras and Veleno and replace with 2 league min players. This adds $2M to the #lgrw cap and they are immediately substantially better.

@GrindLinePod While I would love Yzerman to sign Rantanen, Carolina has plenty of cap space to sign him and there is no way they are acquiring him with the intention of him being a rental.

@Jennife99697952 Compher is having an absolutely brutal year. He must be playing injured because he has gone from a serviceable 2C to a guy the wings should waive asap. He wrecks every line he is on this season.

@D1SCO8 @stabbymcdanger Yeah that’s what I said. Downside is missing out on Copp. Side note I think this would have been a good thing. When Copp was signed it was common knowledge Calgary was looking to deal SM. Yzerman needs more patience with free agents. Don’t rush to sign Copp, Holl, Gus, Chiarot.

@mndamico Added note. Not only will they get the escrow back for this year and last but they will also get top up payments for this year and last.

@D1SCO8 @stabbymcdanger So the downside is we don’t have Copp for 5 years at 5.625M vs we have Monahan for a minimum of one 1st round pick but with a little sense, the opportunity to trade him for even more. The decision is obvious to me and should be completely obvious to everyone! #lgrw

@ProfessorLGRW Seems like there are 3 strategies. Win now= improve team w/ goal of playoffs ASAP. Tank= trade non core assets w/ goal of best draft picks for future cup. Yzerplan= mushy middle, try to make playoffs, bubble finish ok, doesn’t max cup chances. Rank= Tank 1, Yzerplan 2, Win Now 3.

@D1SCO8 @stabbymcdanger So are you saying that you are happy Yzerman signed Copp rather than acquired Monahan? Because those were the choices that year!

@D1SCO8 @stabbymcdanger You just pointed out exactly why the contracts w/ Copp and Compher were so ill advised. You can’t move them at deadline. Instead of Copp we could have acquired Monahan like Montreal did and received 2 firsts for him. When rebuilding, sign guys who you can move for valuable picks.

@mndamico This can’t be a big surprise to anyone. The math was pretty obvious. Once HRR is audited and final, players will get all their escrow back for this year and last year as well with significant bonus top up payments. #foundmoney
$6 billion would be a $93.75 million salary cap per team. Currently it is $82.5. Probably one more year of pay back and then huge jump potentially close to $100 million.

@D1SCO8 @stabbymcdanger So I am arguing w/ a guy who thinks salaries mean “more or less nothing”in league w/ a hard cap, Gus is fantastic b/c he played 5 good games, JT who is getting caved @ 5v5 and #1F in TOI on historically bad PK is important defensively? I suspect you also think Petry is a good D?

@D1SCO8 @stabbymcdanger Might have been nice to have an extra mil so we could have kept Gostisbhere rather than Gus. Or offer sheeted Holloway for 2 million. Or signed someone better than Motte. We missed the playoffs by 1 point last year and will make or miss by 1 this year. $5-10 million means a lot!
