Cicada season for TDOT means a lot of unwanted “help” on the job. This is Sarge Melton trying to make road repairs in Bedford Co. God bless him because that’s a hard no from me 😆

TRAFFIC ALERT 🚨I-840E is closed at MM 28 in Williamson Co. after it was damaged while a CSX crew was working on the railroad underneath. A diversion is in place at Exit 23. We have a bridge inspection crew on scene to determine the extent of the damage.
We are responding to an active aggressor at 33 Burton Hills Blvd Covenant School.
We can confirm we have multiple patients.
Parents coming to the school should go to 20 Burton Hills at this time. this is an active scene.
Most interstates have at least a couple lanes that are clear. Traffic is moving but slowly (as it should). Many state routes are still icy because temps aren’t allowing the salt to fully work. We are still plowing and salting. If you don’t have to get out don’t risk it.
Good morning Middle Tennessee! Of course it’s my luck that I would return from maternity leave to 8inches of snow on the ground 🤦🏻♀️😆.
Be sure to check our SmartWay cameras for road conditions. Stay safe and don’t get on the roads unless you have to!
Please avoid traveling tonight if possible. Although we have cleared most of the state routes with reported debris/damage from tonight's storms, more storms are expected later tonight and could prompt additional flooding and road hazards.
ANNOUNCEMENT 📢 🚨
Meet the new spokesperson for Region 3,
@ErinTDOT
! She will replace me as I become the new comms officer for
@myTDOT
’s P3 Division. Be sure to give her a follow for all mid-state transportation updates.
TRAFFIC ALERT: 🚨 1 lane is blocked on I-65S at MM 47 in Maury Co. after a reported tornado passed over the interstate. Reports from the scene are that cars and signs in the area were damaged. Our crews are responding to the area.
It’s been a long night for our crews and they’ve got another long day of cleanup ahead of them but a little fried catfish, crappie and a chat with
@GovBillLee
and Commissioner Eley for lunch can help.
This is Caleb Miller. He works in Trousdale County and was honored today by the commissioner for the life-saving action he took when, while on a job, he saw a motorcycle crash and rushed to put a tourniquet on the victim involved.
We’re proud to have people like Caleb at TDOT.
In Nashville alone we pick up an average 10-12 tons of litter every MONTH. And trust us when we say you never know what you’ll find! 👀 Help us keep Tennessee clean! Secure your load and don’t dump on the road.
Paving Update: 🚧 Today and tomorrow we’ll be doing emergency repaving on I-65N between SR-96 Franklin Rd. and McEwen Dr. (MM 66.2-66.4) in Williamson Co. ⚠️Alternating lane closures will take place from 9am-3pm

When we get a break in the weather, we shift our focus to patching potholes. We try to get to as many as possible, but the roads have taken a beating in these back-to-back winter storms. Remember to SLOW DOWN when you see potholes or our crews on the road.
Good News! Traffic is beginning to move on I-40E at mm245 near Lebanon. I'm told 7-8 semis were stuck on the road because they couldn't make it up the hill. Our crews worked to push them up the hill or off of the road entirely. One lane is open.

This wind is fierce. Blowing snow is reducing visibility and some of our trucks are starting to plow snow in our northwest counties. Stay home if you can.
An oversized load (large crane) shifted off its trailer last night. After hours of the company trying to find someone to recover it, we called the RJ Corman Railroad Group and Tow Pro who are working to move it and get one lane open now.
Our HELP crews have I-40 East closed at Exit 201. It will likely be closed most of the night while officials investigate the plane crash. You can use our SmartWay map to get updates:

The crane weighs approximately 120,000 lbs. The truck, trailer and load all together weigh about 193,000 lbs. The load is so heavy that no wrecker services in the area could move it which is why it took so long.
