I have a feeling Dune Part 1 & 2 will be one of those series that no matter how many times you rewatch it - you catch new things & the story comes more alive.
Just finished my second IMAX watch of Part 2.
And this might be slightly biased, but Dune part 1&2 might be the best sci-fi movie(s) of the last decade.
The LOTR comparisons are spot on.
Do not be deceived by the fact that he was born on Caladan and lived his first fifteen years there. Arrakis, the planet known as Dune, is forever his place.

โHe was warrior and mystic, ogre and saint, the fox and the innocent, chivalrous, ruthless, less than a god, more than a man was. There is no measuring Muad'Dib's motives by ordinary standards.โ

I can not wait for Dune Messiah to release and for people to absolutely hate and misread it because they didn't understand the story the first two films set up.

I get it โฆ Paul is the prototypical white savior character. Trying to do good but then ends up destroying a culture and sending a raging genocide across the galaxy.
Butโฆ

Iโm still pro-Paul

Dear people who have read Dune,
The new film is being billed as an โemotionally charged heroes journeyโ.
Lots of people are not going to understand the main themes till their 3rd or 4th watch.
Anyone who knows me knows I have the reading comprehension of a five year old and donโt read books.
WITH THAT SAID, Denis Villeneuveโs

has left such an impression on me that I just simply have to give it a go. Canโt wait.

It needs to be explained. 10191 is not 8000 years in our future. It is 10919 AG (after Guild). The spacing Guild has been using the spice for 10000 years. This feudal system of governance in planets has been around much longer.
