@Sunblister16
Damnit, we JUST started implemented a day/night cycle, and I’ve been planning out the female version of our character models. I guess I just don’t understand what the people want.
@yaqobhyndes
This is some of the pretentious nonsense I’ve read all day. Let people be inspired by what inspires them, and if you don’t like what’s produced, don’t buy it. There are a lot of great games inspired by developers and games that their creators admire.
Until further notice, I'll be learning Unreal Engine, and slowly recreating my game. It opens up possibilities that were out of reach with Godot, but does add quite a bit to the workflow. The programmer who sometimes works with me will most likely quit the project if I make this
@HumansNoContext
This makes me sad man. Should never want to put someone you’re with through that kind of fear. That’s just not love at all, not even close.
This response is inadequate.
Best of luck to

and their ambitious plans. This week I’ll give the fork consideration, and if it doesn’t turn out to be the best choice for Echoes of Eden, I’ll still follow the updates closely, and wish you the absolute best. 👊

@ask_aubry
Happily married man here. Weird ass dudes who obsessed over my wife have no say in her decisions, and if they have similar feelings to this dude, I hope they rot in their cold, weak hatred.
What a bizarre way of thinking.
@Andevrs
@RedotEngine
Just an angsty kid probably. If you stick to your guns and continue down the road you aim to continue down, some of them might calm down and try out your fork in the future.
Best of luck carrying through toward your goals. You’ve got this man. 👊
@ArturSmiarowski
This actually bums me out pretty badly. I’ve been using Godot, and have been really thankful for it. It would de-rail my whole project, but I’ve got to consider whether or not I want to continue using it.
I’ll think on it for a bit..
@pbgomez_
Yeah.. I think people just get rewarded so consistently for trendinging things, that the pendulum swings too far back sometimes. Ever laughed at a kids joke, and then regretted it because they just wouldn’t stop making the same joke?
I don’t know that we ever really get to a
@xananax
Have you shown the same grace to others that you request be shown to you?
This experience may teach you the value of being understanding with others. We all have skeletons in our closet, and if we start tearing other people apart, they might start coming out.
Best of luck
@Rahll
I'm amazed that someone thought they could get away with this one. I didn't think anyone could beat the Chase ATM glitch, but this one really proved me wrong. 😂
@Vara_Dark
People sexualize everything now 😵💫
Showing compassion for people like what’s portrayed here is just normal human companionship. There’s no way you’d worry about something being “gay” in the situation they’re in, in the movie
@__silent_
I have no experience with 3d art at all, like 0.... but did they really think that a silhouette could be smoothed out by a texture?
"I expect textures to subjugate geometry itself. If they cannot do so, then they are not up to modern standards."
@ArturSmiarowski
If it wouldn’t be too much trouble, could you add dog people with top hats to the area, who make toys? It’s no problem if you don’t, I’ll just report you to my local news station to burn everything you create, and your reputation to the ground. Thanks. ❤️
@VinceMancini
As someone who’s had various variants of lead roles in the construction industry(and who’s spent his own time on the chopping block, being closely evaluated early on), I’ve learned that micro-management does not produce the best results. You micro-manage during direct training,

Oh wow, I had no idea mods were moderated. That makes the overly sexual mods even creepier to me 😂 like… someone saw that and said, “yeah I’ll definitely host that one.”

It’ll take me a while to get these right, buuuuut. I’ve changed up the design for female bodies slightly, and I’ve pulled my hair/outfits/various creatures into a massive sketchpad, and I’m going to spend a while improving these designs.

I don't mean to spam everyone, BUT we got the water shader to work with the player character, and I'm really happy with the effect. 😄
Plenty more to do of course, but the progress this weekend has felt nice so far! Pushing to get as much done as possible before the work week
Status update, and current goals:
My uninterrupted free time after work is becoming more and more scarce, as I take more of a leadership role in my company. I give my time first to my wife, then to my responsibilities, and then to my passion project, Echoes of Eden.

Thank you for following this page, and for showing curiosity about the development of Echoes of Eden. There’s been a huge influx of people stopping by and checking things out, and I’ll work very hard to not leave you disappointed.
Both I, and the programmer I’m working with

Porting to a new engine, especially as a beginner is pretty challenging. He's put out a pretty great course on Udemy (And has great free content on Youtube) for anyone out there who needs to get a little bit of traction using Unreal for a 2d game.
Today felt like a long list of very miniscule improvements. But, I'm learning more about Godot through the small steps!
-Implemented multiple layers for player built items, and ability to choose to assign items to a layer via a dropdown list in the editor
-Added some
Thank you for all of the interest in Echoes of Eden, and follows this last few days.

I've decided against infinite scenes. The more I've thought about it, it's not worth the performance cost for this project. We plan to sort worlds into "zones" divided by difficulty, and I think that transitions between scenes when crossing into new zones are preferable to lag
A lot of my time spent with Unreal Engine over the last few days has just involved reading the documentation, and watching videos to understand the different features of the engine, and methods used to create different sorts of projects.

Alright, so no real assets got created tonight. BUT, what a great clown.
For real though:
Created various test scenes, all layered and set up to start drawing more harvestable resources (like the tree)
I think that it will be easier to tell if assets fit well together, by drawing

@CouldBeBarney
I’ve seen a lot of people speak to your intentions, from the mod, to X users. What a bizarre time to be alive.
Gaslighting is just normal social behavior now I suppose?
@jadel4w
People really will try and find a way to de-legitimize just about anything to feel superior. The goal is to make an enjoyable game. What it’s experienced on isn’t relevant to the goal.
One month into pixel art/art in general vs 6 months in.

@StarfighterInt1
You’ve got to make the decision that’s best for you. I imagine Epic Games Inc has similar political leanings, but they’re professional, and you know what they get out of the deal when you use their engine. (% of profit after a certain threshold is reached)

Frame by frame animation has been very interesting to experiment more with. I'll have to think more about how to integrate it properly, but I'm strongly considering switching from in-engine animation to just going frame by frame. It opens up a lot of possibilities, even if it is
Highly recommend you try out this game. The developer pushes out updates at a blazing pace, and I think you’ll find the experience you have while playing to be very unique.
It’s priced reasonably, it’s in a great playable state, and it’s one of the fastest growing titles I’ve
Soulash 2 v0.8.5 is now available, introducing a new civilization to conquer the mountain biome - Trolls!
The dwarves have already begun hiding their mushroom stocks.

I appreciate it, and I’m reaching out to a few plugin contributors from Brazil that support free speech to see if I can stream the Twitter space Friday for them somehow
I’m hoping to be able to be available to listen in and learn more about the fork.
I have high hopes, and
Not good at art?
Me either.
Prepare to cringe. Cheesiness levels are over 9000.
But if a guy like me can progress, what could YOU accomplish I wonder? I'd love to see. 👊
What is your most consistent source of motivation for your game, art, (or whatever you’re pursuing passionately)?
The Indie Dev space on here can sometimes feel like an Echo Chamber, or a group chat, but one in which we all attempt simultaneously to market and share our work,

I was getting too fixated on frustrations with the terrain sets. Time to get some creative energy back into the project!
THIS sort of project, is why I want to give the 2D/3D hybrid route a Shot, even if it takes a while to gain some traction. To make the player character compatible with character customization will require more planning though.
I've finally figured out how to rig 2D skeletons in Unreal without deformation! That should be the final piece of the puzzle, now just to put it all together and animate. 😁
Would it help anyone if I made a step by step walkthrough with instructions, and required tools? It's
This games development is as entertaining to watch as the game is to play. If you don’t follow Soulash 2, you really should. I’d say that you should buy the game, but honestly, if you spend a week or two seeing the updates on here, you’re naturally just going to want to play it.

If you guys figure out how to maintain references to assets when their file location is changed, it would be a pretty insane QOL improvement that would make the fork genuinely pleasant to work with.

Streets of Rogue 2 seems to have that same strong personality that studios like The Behemoth bring to life. Fearless creative choices, and damn, if the developers weren’t having fun while making this, I’d be extremely surprised. 😁
Still old assets, but more progress with character creation. The addition of randomizers! 😄
Ultimately, the goal is to also allow players to choose a "personality" which will decide which animation set their character uses, and a few other features that I'll leave a surprise for

I thought that you made the storks that they wanted. It was storks they wanted, right?

There we go. I’m terrible at marketing, and so everyone here might not know that it’s the name of the game I’m creating.
Check back in on me at this time next year. September 17, 2024. If I don’t have a playable demo that’s fun by next year, and if the name

Political ads and posts from all sides have pretty much overtaken my feed, and I try to primarily interact with game dev and indie dev content to keep that the main focus.
I don’t know if that’s what’s keeping you from seeing people’s posts, but it’s what’s drowning them out

You’re setting the bar high for us in the indie space, and I’m all for it. Love your great character, and you’ve done amazing work.

Though my intention for this weekend was originally to spend time working on GDScript, I've been spending the time exploring game engine options, and considering what each choice would mean for Echoes of Eden. Once I feel I've come to the right choice, I'll share an update.

I’ve got to think of every shape possible for the tilesets now. 🧐
We’re preparing to make a prototype for procedurally generated maps.
I was originally working with the tiles while they were laid out in a pre-determined format, but I’m realizing that I’m not experienced enough
This engine has made things possible for many of us dreamers out there. It’s only right to show respect to the people who have toiled for so long to give us SO much.
Anniversary time! 🥂🎉
Exactly one year ago we published our Development Fund, which has since helped propell our project forward.
Big thank you to all who believe in the future of free, open-source projects like our game engine here.
Straying from conventional wisdom that says to pin your most successful posts. I’ve pinned a declaration of intent that I intend to hold myself to, and will not remove that pin until this date next year.
Today, I had an idea. 🧐
I’d like to theme unique NPC’s after some Indie Developers/People in my real life circle, with custom dialogue.
I don’t want to work on characters for people without talking with them directly. So, who would like to have a character themed after
@RedotEngine
If you stick to your goal, and over the long term don’t contribute to the tribal/faction-minded mindset that’s taking hold of a lot of indie’s and give people free space to work creatively, down the road I’d be willing to contribute financially.

Minor update (But a very positive update for me):
The programmer who’s been a bit of a mentor, and who occasionally contributes to Echoes of Eden will join me in prototyping in Unreal Engine to thoroughly test it, and see if it would provide the best possible end product.

This one will be a bit long, personal, philosophical, and hopefully inspirational.
The easiest way for people to justify evil acts is to dehumanize their opponents with labels representing socially recognized evil.
This is why we see a lot of strong words like "bigot", "nazi",
I’ve been seeing a lot of posts lately about people blocking people because of who they follow. Is this considered normal on here?
I would never unfollow someone out of some sort of… shame of being seen following them, it just seems bizarre to me. I’m curious about people’s
