In terms of developing power, the INTENT must be there. You have to train your body and your nervous system to PERFORM. If the effort on sprints, jumps, or throws isn’t there, the improvements likely won’t be either.

Novelty usually equates to soreness. Be wary of “trying that drill you saw on IG” at random. Stick to think guys know and do well. The basics always win

Avoid throwing (especially competitively) with a fatigued rotator cuff. Be wary of long winded band routines. A few basic cuff activities and solid dynamic warm up should be sufficient to prepare guys to throw.

10-15 minutes of LOW LEVEL aerobic activity followed by foam rolling or mobility routines can be a game changer for how guys feel after a long stretch of games. Prioritize Lat length, hip mobility thoracic mobility, and scapular movement for these small recovery circuits.

Coaches: Things to Consider for In season Training! You must account for work being in practice and games. It is stress on the body just the same as training or conditioning. “Punishment Poles” or “ Flush Runs” are not the move for your guys.

Training with CONSISTENCY is the biggest driver of results. Hammering the fundamentals and PROGRESSING them will get you light years farther than “mixing it up” all the time. If you’re bored, you probably aren’t working hard enough.

Teaching the concept of hip separation (one hip flexed and the other extended) can go a LONG way for improving acceleration mechanics. Drive knees through and ATTACK the ground! Be INTENTIONAL with these: ✅ Wall Drills ✅ Mountain Climbers ✅ Sled Marches ✅ Skip Variations

Program design for our pro baseball players gets fun this time of year. The adaptations from lifting heavy earlier in the off season are put to use with sprints, jumps, contrast training, etc. The goal entering camp is for these guys to feel strong, but also fast and powerful.

ATTAINABLE, ACTIONABLE goals will give you a mission. Get a notebook and write them out. For Example: -Hit x home runs - Accumulate x RBIS - Accumulate x Strikeouts - Steal x Bases - Throw x Innings Things like these can really help you focus!

If your arm isn’t in shape, DON’T test the waters. Speak with your coach and come up with a plan to get you where you need to be. An extra couple weeks of building up is better than rehab… Too many guys send it way too hard in the pre season. Get your body right!

MLB guys have a 6 month season.. do you think they just stop lifting/training? Don’t be afraid to get into the weight room and take care of yourself this spring. Keep the appropriate volume and intensity could be the key to the best season you’ve ever had!

Lifting in season is one of the best ways to keep your self healthy, strong, and performing at your best. In fact, the residuals on speed and power adaptations aren’t great, which means you must stimulate the body with these qualities in order to keep them.

Things to consider as the HS/College baseball seasons begin: 1. Do you have a plan to lift in season? 2. Is your arm REALLY ready for competitive throws? 3. Do you have any goals?

A ribcage that has lost its “roundedness” has lost its’ ability to rotate. Restore the shape, restore the rotation. #baseballtraining #armcare

Volume management is key for a productive off-season. Maybe think twice before getting your 6th lift in of the week by 5pm on a Tuesday. More is not always better. #baseball #highschoolbaseball

Leave an adequate amount of time to ramp into your throwing volume this off-season. Not touching a ball for 2 months and ripping a max effort pen in tryouts will not go over well for your arm health. #pitchers #baseballtraining

Most throwers don’t need a complete “shutdown” after fall ball. Keeping volume and intensity at a minimum without stopping entirely will make the ramp-up period much easier. #pitchers #baseballtraining

When training this off-season keep in mind, the weight you have on the bar is significantly less important that the execution of the technique. Loading and feeling the right things = better results. #training #baseballtraining

Remember that RECOVERY is when the gains happen. Muscles have to recover in order to adapt. This is why adequate sleep and nutrition are such a big part of successful training ventures! #training #SportsPerformance
