"I’d worked with the
@TrevorProject
for 12 years and it would have seemed like, I don’t know, immense cowardice to me to not say something," Radcliffe said.
When I was at school I dreamed of what it would be like to be out of the closet.
Today I returned to my old school to speak to medical school applicants about LGBTQ+ health. Younger me would be shocked. Present me is incredibly, incredibly proud.
There were lots of amazing things about Pride yesterday.
But the best thing was my parents coming to support me in the parade 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

A lovely afternoon representing

medical school’s freshers fair, telling them all about our work and opportunities for them to get involved 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
It’s

today!
Can’t wait to be marching again with

, the coolest group of LGBTQ+ Doctors and Dentists 😎
As always - queer rights are human rights and we at GLADD will always be proud and visible! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
@Doctor_Erin_
You did a brilliant thing! It takes a special kind of strength to stand up to this kind of thing, and your patient is lucky to have such an ethical doctor like you.
A year ago today, I received a Twitter DM that changed my life.
It was from an account called
@ATDazzles
and it included the words ‘I think you’d be a great fit for the website’. (1/4)
Had my first theatre directing class as part of my intercalation today.
Theatre directing. Credit-bearing studies in a medical school intercalated degree.
Pinch me!!
If there’s one way to respond to homophobes at
#PrideInLondon
being horrible, it’s to blow them a kiss and then take a tonne of gay pictures with them, eventually blocking them out entirely. Here’s a few xx
It’s been 409 days since I finished 3rd year of medical school to do an intercalated degree…
Medical school… I’m back 🩺
It’s time for day 1 of 4th year 🧠🫁🫀
Today was my final meeting with
@kt2morris
, who has been my Personal Academic Tutor at
@unibirmingham
for pre-clinical medicine. Honestly, I’m going to miss her, she’s been such an incredible and supportive tutor. I want to publicly thank her for all she’s done for me.
So, as it turns out,

🏳️🌈MEET THE EXEC🏳️🌈
Next we have Raphael (he/him)
He is a medical student at the University of Birmingham. He is passionate about LGBTQ+ visibility and activism in healthcare. He’s also an oboist and theatre critic!
Last week I spent a fabulous week teaching on a summer school course for aspiring medical students.
It’s always such a pleasure to bring the joys of medicine to those yet to embark on the challenging (but ultimately rewarding) journey that is medical school! 🫀🫁🧠🩻
If a reviewer fills a theatre review with transphobic aggressions towards characters and performers, I’m not interested in your thoughts on that show, or any others.
You don’t deserve a platform.
Your vile bigotry can get in the BIN.
I loved
#DoctorWho
tonight, showing the very best of queer acceptance on British TV tonight. A loved, affirmed trans character? Normalised use of personal pronouns?
Absolutely wonderful 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
I recieved this from a closeted medical student the other day. I think it speaks to the importance of the work of
@GLADDUK

I have a little pride flag which sits on the corner of my desk. It stays there, motionless, but it’s a nice thing to have.
Apart from the fact there’s something wrong. Notice it? 🧵:
As it’s Pride Month, let me share with you how I originally came out back in April 2021.
I couldn’t help but do it somewhat theatrically. So I shared a video of myself literally coming out of my closet 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
I hope nobody can see what I’m listening to on Spotify because I’m not sure it gives the right impression to be a Jew listening to a song called ‘Das Ubermensch’…
However, the song is a BANGER and I am fully obsessed!
I’ve had a fantastic year intercalating in
@LANS_unibham
and I’m really looking forward to returning back to clinical medicine at
@UoBMBChB
, but meanwhile, this news came through today and I’m really proud to share it!
Not sure myself back in first year would believe today’s me if I told him that at the end of my third year of medical school I would be invited to speak at an Education for Health Professionals Conference about being a neuroatypical student… but I did it!
First time in surgery: ✅
Honestly I was amazed, I don’t know how anyone can see that and not be inspired.
I don’t know if I have a future career in surgery as I wasn’t great at anatomy in preclinical years, but it sure was an amazing experience.
What’s that on the
@unibirmingham
website? 👀

On placement today at a primary school I talked to some kids with ADHD about having ADHD and not letting it hold you back, which was fun and all…
Then one of them looked up at me and went ‘so… you can be a doctor if you have ADHD? Wow…’
🥺🥺🥺
A bit stunned to be able to say that I’ve been awarded an intercalating students’ award by the Arthur Thomson Trust at
@UoBMBChB
, having presented my research plans at an interview earlier in the week.
Still in shock, but immensely grateful to everyone who’s supported me.
Can’t believe I have to explain this but don’t, under any circumstances, tell me I’m “lucky” to get extra time, rest breaks and a separate room in my exams.
I get those adjustments because I have ADHD, which can make studying bloody difficult. Wanna trade?
Thought not.

What a lovely way to end Birmingham Pride. A homophobe comes for me calling me a ‘poofy twat’ (before video started) and ‘fucking little fanny’ (in video) and threatens to punch me with ‘HATE’ tattooed on his right hand.
Don’t anyone dare tell me we ‘don’t need pride anymore’.
Absolutely wonderful to host

at UoB’s Medsoc LGBTQ+ History Month event to talk about PrEP and HIV!
Greg, you are an absolute ⭐️ and it was such a pleasure to have you!
