Michigan Report From Hell is a peculiar horror game for PS2, where you play as a cameraman during a monster outbreak, with moral choices and the permanent death of the reporters.

Franzen is a free dark JRPG that tells the journey of a duo of weird and likable characters, set in an industrial world full of racial and social clashes... and this without considering The Scream opening in the sky and irradiating darkness.
Castlevania The Seal Of The Curse X is a free fanmade "Castlevania-inspired" game made by Arkhouse Telegraph. The art-style of some of the creatures is really disturbing.
Day 13: Spirit Hunter Death Mark is probably one of the best horror VN. Really creepy and scary, with a detailed art-style, twisted ghosts, and challenging "boss battles". Not so invasive wall of dialogues and a good focus on exploration, similar to dungeon-crawlers.
Indika is a a religious and surreal odyssey set in a steampunk alternative 1900s Russia. A creepy experiment of brilliant meta-gaming moments and tough environmental puzzles.
Pagui is an action-horror set in 1950s Taiwan, where a child exorcist explores a haunted town full of ghosts. Meticulous attention to every detail, from the historical setting, to the graphic and the freedom of exploration. Truly a hidden gem.
It Came from the Desert was an adventure released at the beginning for Cinemaware, with a B-movie plot and mixing styles, including a shooting gallery when fighting gigantic ants.

Germs Nerawareta Machi is a haunting Japanese only PS1 game set in an empty and bizarre open world. Some characters have no face, others a too human face, while others are completely alien beings. The cover is also absolutely disturbing.

Hiruko the Goblin is a really weird Japanese movie. It starts as comedy-horror inspired by Evil Dead, but then evolves in something bizarre and disturbing close to Juni Ito's works. Pretty sure the game Forbidden Siren got some inspiration from Hiruko.
While waiting for the release, here are some images of the upcoming Fear & Hunger Termina, the sequel of one of the darkest RPGs ever released, this time set in 1942.
"I Live Under your House" is a short VN with 3D exploration, detailed dark art, and disturbing writing, where you play as a monster living underground, disturbed by human presence. Will you punish the intruders or coexist with them?
Evolution Straw Doll of Grudge is a strange Japanese pet-clicker for Android, where a strange doll will evolve in monstrous beings by feeding on bugs. The art-style really reminds of Junji Ito.

Demon Lord Reincarnation is a dungeon-crawler with a dark and stylish art-style, where you can select your party between 20 characters, survive traps, creepy monsters, to finally defeat the evil lord. And who knows, maybe then you can play him.
Norgame is set in a city in northern Russia under eternal aurora borealis since a colossal skeletal creature stole the sun. Guide the moon girl in this puzzle-heavy adventure based on fairytales and folklore.
Yuppie Psycho has one of the most interesting collectables in a survival-horror. Each collected VHS will play a short, surreal, and creepy movie, not in

but with real actors.
The Japan-only JRPG Despiria, released for Dreamcast, has a peculiar fighting system. Each battle is a mental fight against enemies such as androids or mutants, using a team selected between dozens of brain-parasites.

The first is Filthy Us, which looks like Cat Lady meets even more Silent Hill.
"For Mother Matron" is a free disturbing VN with many deadly moments and deaths, set in a hopeless city where people live of trash and rats, while avoiding being sent by the "Mother" on a journey in tunnels full of monsters.
