You cannot deradicalize a people who do not wish to change. World War II ended with Germany admitting defeat and the Germans respected the Allied forces for their victory. In contrast, most Palestinians do not respect Israel or the West, they perceive them as weak, and from their perspective, they have reason to think so. Despite Israel and the West's overwhelming military power, they are constrained by humanitarian principles, valuing every life. Meanwhile, their adversaries are willing to sacrifice everything in the name of their beliefs. Democratic societies allow them to spread freely, enabling them to rally support, manipulate public sentiment, and even undermine their opponents from within. To truly defeat and deradicalize such movements, the West would have to abandon its liberal-democratic values when dealing with those who do not share them. This would require a brutal and decisive military campaign like done in WW2, not only against the Palestinians but also against their primary backers, Iran and Qatar, both of whom fund and promote anti-Western ideology. However, such an approach contradicts Western ideals and is unlikely to happen. Instead, Trump’s proposal, to evict them and let their host countries discipline and educate them, might be the most humane option available.
