This whole issue: Dick jumping from 30,000 feet Without a Net, his interactions with his friends/family, lying to them, the fact he does the math mid fall - this story is just peak Dick Grayson.
@myonnaslibrary
It's always the white fans who say they should be forgiven because "it's been so long" and "times were different", like it wasn't 10 years ago 😒
New Frontier

Dick Grayson is such an excitable fanboy here (and for most of their first meetings) Just a small moment in a must-read brilliant book. Love Batman describing to Superman his partnership with Robin as "Two lost souls who found each other"
@blackncomictwit
Mel is such an awesome character, I really hate fandoms sometimes. When they're fav white character starts killing people, they'll make excuses. When a poc is (slightly) morally grey, they're a hater
Legends Of The DC Universe

Probably my favourite Robin and Superman first meeting with Dick fanboying internally and remembering when he was younger seeing Superman in the news for the first time. He keeps his head and works competently with Superman. Fantastic issue!
Superman
#700
has that infamous short story where Superman does Dick's geometry homework so Dick doesn't get in trouble with Bruce. Less of a team up and more Superman does the heavy lifting but funny when they get to trick Bruce (even though he does work it out)
Dick and Cass are probably the most underrated and underutilised Bat team but I love them. Batgirl
#29
has Dick and Cass investigating a murder together, showcasing Dick being incredibly skilled at detective work while also allowing Cass to show her own unique perspective.
Wonder Woman: Gods of Gotham contains probably my favourite Wonderfam and Batfam team up!
The platonic relationships between characters like Diana and Bruce, Artemis and Helena, and Dick and Donna are the highlights of this book. Bonus double Oracle.
Nightwing (1996)
#53
is a great character focused issue where Dick's emotional intelligence and Babs' personality shines. Babs' skills as Oracle are showcased as she solves who shot her father. Without Babs even saying anything, Dick understands her grief as well as her want for
Superman: American Alien
#4
A pre-Superman Clark meets a pre-Robin Dick, who uses his detective skills to work out how Clark knew what was in his pocket, he didn't stand a chance - x-ray vision wasn't in his thought process. Loved their interactions here and Dick inspiring Clark.
Justice League 2011
#51
Dick meeting Clark is a miniscule moment but I enjoyed this issue - Dick's first meeting with the JL. It was overwhelming and he was outclassed yet he was competent and insightful. Good issue but the timeline is an utter mess here.
Batman The Widening Gyre
#2
Another brief moment of Dick being a fanboy while Superman defeats a giant robot. The moment is more about Bruce's inability to trust fully in others but its funny how judgemental Dick is that Bruce can't fully trust Superman
Superman/Batman 2003 Annual 2 has Dick stumble over words with excitement when he first meets Clark but the moment passes when he and Bruce spend time training a Superman who's lost his powers. Dick motivating Clark with "Superman doesn't quit" is cute. Overall a fun issue.
@B4TMANSBFF
I have this ominous feeling that Dick and Babs are gonna raise the clone child - it's because of that Gotham War panel of Bruce saying they would be better parents of the Batfamily 😭
I hope I'm very wrong
Robin & Batman 2021
#2
I love the contrast of Dick being proffessional and quiet when first meeting Superman but as soon as he gets home, he gets to outwardly express his joy - it reflects Bruce's ulterior motive for taking Dick to the JL Watchtower.
Preview for Detective Comics

Mikel Janin's art of Babs is incredible. Love the signature green lighting for Oracle
(Also thank goodness she's not wearing her "Oracle fit", bring back Babs changing outfits)
@GLOOPYYy
This more leaks? If so, same face syndrome is especially prevalent in this chapter - Jason looked like a mix of Damian and Tim and now this 😭
Batman/Superman 2019
#17
They're from different timelines. Fun adventure story of them travelling to different realities, arc starts on
#16
Dick gets jealous of Superman calling Batman "partner" but later asks Superman if he can fly on his shoulders - character development.
Worlds Finest 1941
#94
Superman rejects Batman and Robin's help so they reminisce on their first meeting with Superman to help find out why. Campy comic filled with superhero melodrama. Batman and Robin are both huge fans of Superman before they even meet.
Adventure Comics 1939
#253
Robin travels back in time (they did that casually in this era) to save Superman's life, meeting a teenage Clark Kent, Superboy. Their hero partnership and friendship is fun and taking down Luthor is just a footnote in the story.
@wordsandsense
I love Damian but I can't believe they're making a film about Bruce's biological child before any of his adopted children. There's enough "Not Bruce's real children" slander
Nightwing Annual focused on Bea!!!! The pirate arc unfortunately didn't really live up to the awesome premise but wow Travis Moore's art is gorgeous and it's written by him as well - will be checking this out!
Worlds Finest 1941
#271
acts as a "tidy up" of prior Bruce/Clark first meetings, including the og Superman and Robin meeting which wasn't from a comic but a 1940s Superman radio program. Superman finds an unconscious Robin who accidently reveals his name, then they save Batman
@Mr_Axel_Gear
@TinyPrincess_D
It's about consent. If they were both happy smushing cake into each other's faces, that's fine. In this case she didn't want that, he did it anyway. If he crossed those "small" boundaries, what else is he going to cross later on in their marriage
Obssessed with Mar'i calling Bruce grandpa (just ignore who Mar'i ends up with) Devestating that Mar'i comes from a family of orphans and her biggest fear is losing her loved ones, then Kory dies 😭 On a side note, Cyborg is the best Uncle ever!
@agapanthuslily
I'm waiting for the day when a superhero has a bio kid who decides to be a civilian. I just think it's kind of messed up that because of who their parents are, they're expected to also be superheroes.
@CristianRubio45
Batgirl being a "sidekick" always bothered me - she's her own independent hero and Babs having the final say on who Batgirl can be is a must. Totally agree with your points!
@catacoves
I love this era so much but lmao, their reunion was anticlimactic - especially compared to Dicks reaction to Bruce's death. Tbh I kind of love their external nonchalance about the situation
The way Rick Leonardi draws Jason truly highlights how young he is - the slightly round cheeks 😭🥺
Death in the Family - Robin Lives is going to be heartbreaking despite Jason actually surviving.
@CS11__
I love when writers understand that Bruce didn't "recruit" Dick as a child soldier, he gave a Dick a home, a family, and made sure he was able to be happy and do normal things like go on dates, even after such a tragedy
@supergirlboy765
Why is DC so allergic to Oracle (actually disabled Babs). Discluding two female members of the Batfam (especially Steph who had a dynamic with Damian) just to keep Babs Batgirl is so upsetting on top of erasing an incredible disabled hero. I really hate this
@comicaloddity
He's a billionaire, he can afford it. I do slightly miss that era where he was renting with roomates and they kept closing his window so he couldn't get back in after patrol. It was pretty funny.
This one shot is just pure Grayson goodness. Dick is fun and witty while being cunning and manipulative. He's able to put together a successful team while being competent enough to do his own part alone. Plus it has stressed out Bruce about Dick over the comms. Highly recommend!
@cyberpunkyeo
It's so weird that in the og comics, Bruce was presented as a great father figure while also being a mix of being an older brother/friend to Dick. Only later on when comics got more "edgier" there was a shift in writers going for Bruce being more cold and distant
@taliasghul
This is so gross, genuinely upsetting to see brown people get constantly villainised compared to white people. I only saw the Damian design initially and thought it was cute but Talia and Ras deserve so much better
@AlexWPE0
Kory being a mentor is such good characterisation but this moment was so unnecessary and a disservice to her by connecting her romantically to Dick, who's in a relationship to someone else, and Kory's s also moved on
@themycira
It angers something within me. I feel like I'm overcomplaining and that I should be grateful for Oracle content but Oracle was a disabled woman's Rebirth into heroics. Her disability was intrinsically tied to her mantle.
Nightwing 1995 is a miniseries about fathers and their children.
Dick finding himself discontent with the life/childhood he had by being raised by Bruce, retires. He also gets slightly envious of recent aquaintance Miggie and the loving relationship she has with her parents.
The idea of Damian being "tamed" is disgusting. Why is Damian being compared to a wild (fictional) animal.
Like how hard is it to say "Dick helped mentor Damian", it doesnt dehumanise Damian.
@comicsAmy
Billionaire Dick Grayson is so boring. Him giving away all his wealth is good in theory but it's ignoring all the corruption and how money doesnt fix everything. I love the idea of him being am acrobatics instructor and passing on his Flying Graysons legacy to others child
@nightwingist
Exactly, the day I know peace is when she's Oracle iver being Batgirl. Her being disabled doesn't mean she can't have an awesome date night.
I try to avoid fanon but the one thing that makes me laugh is the idea that "Jason was Tim's Robin"
Like Tim has been a fan of Dick before he even knew he was Robin. The fanon idea makes no sense to me.
@dapper_human
This moment would be phenomenal if Babs' disability and her role as Oracle was respected. Genuinely depresses me how many people care about the relationship more than her individual character, especially since they originally prominently dated as Nightwing and Oracle.
these panels speak 2 such a deep sense of grief, rage and injustice that’s at the core of early starfire characterisation and is a powerful motivator for her (+for conflict). constantly faced with shocking evil and injustice but forced to act against her moral code -
Not really true in all continuities but I love the idea of Dick being the reason why Batman displays trophies in the Batcave.
Batman Adventures (2003)

@jlquarterly
It genuinely bothers me when she's being "Oracle" or has the logo, yet is shown to be able bodied. Oracle was a disabled woman's Rebirth into heroics, it's just not the same to have her be both Batgirl and Oracle
@BlueTrapeze
Love this thread. Dick's a perfectionist because mistakes means death. That's why he's so strict as leader of the TT. Lilith died (and didn't listen to Dick), Donna died protecting Dick etc. And Dick blames himself for all of it
@Korisolos
The way some people are towards Barbara and how they treat her years as Oracle (actually disabled) are awful. She was this iconic disabled hero yet people treat those years like they were the worst of her life. All of these are disgusting and I really don't see the "joke"
@DamianOfGotham
Genuinely would love an arc where Damian temporarily takes a break from being a vigilante and has a "normal" life for a moment without the pressure of being a vigilante. Like I'd love for him to study veterinary
@Nightwingology
Genuinely can't stand when other characters create the mantle Robin even if it's an AU like White Knight, or when Bruce is the one who creates the name.
Reading Batman Universe and it feels like an episode of Batman the Brave and the Bold in the best way possible. Bruce is hilarious and I always love when the og Dynamic Duo teams up. (Yes that's Bruce thinking Dick complimented him on the ability to recognise a submarine 😂)
