I used to work almost strictly with curves.
Now I can't stand how dense and bulky the parts looked and prefer to "manually part" the hair with a subdiv cube base.

Shadows at the edges of your model look very pretty from the front, but it is 3D, so the shadows have to stop somewhere.
You're left with dark shading at the sides, dark shading at the back or both.

Ripping has been a problem in VRChat for many many years to the point where people won't even put their commissioned models in game.
People choose 2pay for models designed for the game for a cheaper price like £40, and the people who suffer are those who spend months making them
I don't think people know what "ripped" means.
You modify a game so you can access files in it you're not meant to by design.
"taking a file out of the compressed (maybe encrypted) format so you can use.."
this can even include models people have payed thousands to commission
