Just a little blast from the past in regards that we’ve always been more than a hobbyist group as some claimed. When the 7Ks first arrived & WMATA said they were only 4/8 car capable; the media believed it w/o question. Here’s a post from us from 2017!

🤔 I think I know exactly who was behind this - the language about scanner traffic is almost verbatim to what I heard about 5 yrs ago from a COMM employee at JGB to a member of the media 🤔🤔
Despite reports online, a Metrobus was not involved in a crash that left a child in critical condition this afternoon. Scanner traffic is not a confirmed source of information for the public in an emergency, as details often change in real time. (1/2) #wmata

Note: There was never a tweet/post regarding this event from @Metrorailinfo or @wmata due to selective criteria that is rarely overridden manually especially on weekends. We wish we could monitor the system like we used to and been able to have identified this.
A Metro passenger was carrying some sort of substance in a can when it exploded Sunday morning on a Red Line train between Dupont Circle and Farragut North.

I’ll even meet them halfway with yes SOME channels need encryption but primary dispatch and basic TAC needs to be unencrypted and transparent - @MetroTransitPD @DCPoliceDept @councilofdc @brookepintodc
ENCRYPTION is serving absolutely nobody but the police. And that is how I feel about it. It is a disservice.

2:27P Outbound 🟠 New Carrollton Train 947 reported smoke from a crosstie on the departure end at Deanwood. Passengers on that train incurred a 30 min delay. No source of smoke identified - extinguished with water. Unorganized Incident Command August 29, 2024
UPDATE: Orange Line: Trains are no longer single tracking. Residual delays continue in both directions following earlier fire department activity at Deanwood.
