Last cycle, #DeFi buoyed the market. This time, no solid narrative exists. Endless PVP and nihilism prevail; #AIAgents hope was short - lived. Crypto's now a cutthroat space. Decentralization and security are sidelined for speed - run plays and PVP. Great for some, but without change, crypto will shrink. To thrive, crypto needs growth in payments, DeFi, AI agents, RWA. It seems that the AI Agent market has been experiencing wild fluctuations recently! It previously soared to $20 billion, but now it's only between $6 - $8 billion, which is a significant drop. However, even with the continuous decline in market prices, many teams are still working extremely hard on innovation. For example, @virtuals_io keeps rolling out updates, teams in the DeFAI sector are frantically developing new features, and there have been quite a few developments in open - source AI. Although the market is rather quiet at the moment, in the long run, the potential of AI and cryptocurrencies remains. Once the hype and capital flow back, there will surely be new changes. Moreover, AI infrastructure projects and new ecosystems are on the rise.
Where the AI Agent Space Stands Right Now PT.13 The AI Agent market has been ranging between $6B - $8B for the past week, a sharp drop from its $20B peak in January—a clear sign of consolidation as the market recalibrates. The price action remains the same—continuing to drop 5-15% daily, regardless of the underlying developments from many resilient teams that are heads down building. Yet, despite the market’s sluggish price action, some teams are relentlessly pushing forward with innovation: Notably, - @virtuals_io continues shipping updates after updates—Virtuals Partner Network (VPN), P2S program supporting pre-sentient projects, $VIRTUAL as the first staking AI token with @nufflelabs, and many more developments. - DeFAI, a sector where top teams keep shipping new features daily—@griffaindotcom Agent Studio, @orbitcryptoai v2 soon, @HeyAnonai Solana DeFi features. - More adoption on open-source AI, as seen from @ai16zdao ElizaOS dev stats & continued partnerships (most recently with @AskVenice to build ElizaOS agents with no-code), launchpad & tokenomics almost ready. - @eigenlayer gaining more prominence in AI agents—continuous efforts from @dabit3 & @sreeramkannan to highlight top builders, with EigenLayer introducing Level 1 Verifiable Agents, pushing towards a decentralized/verifiable AI future. Given the catalysts for AI & Crypto remain unchanged for the long term, it's only a matter of time before attention & capital start trickling back into the market. But this time, it'll consolidate around a few AI agent projects with more emphasis on fundamentals. We'll also see the rise of AI infra projects, unlocking new capabilities for agents—think smarter, more autonomous AI with real-world utility. In the meantime, we're seeing pockets of attention shifting towards new ecosystems—primarily @berachain (thank you for the Yapper airdrop sers) and @StoryProtocol, which is slated to launch extremely soon. Both are quite interesting, especially Story Protocol—this will be the first time ever we have a programmable IP chain where IP can be tokenized. We're about to see new asset classes & primitives emerge, akin to 2020/21 DeFi times but with IPs (I'll be dropping a dedicated content piece on Story early next week).
