@NoMansSmile It's possible to simulate orbital mechanics by manipulating the game's internal class properties and injecting custom logic into the game. It's also possible to simulate physical rotation. Prerelease nms actually used to have physical rotation & orbital mechanics. :)

A wip planet editor on the PathFinder version of No Man's Sky (with the Multiverse Gui): I'll soon circumvent the limitation restricting legacy nms versions to 8 biome types. Every planet in the Multiverse will be algorithmically generated via the C++ code in Multiverse.dll.

The Multiverse Framework (& it's GUI) supports for the following legacy NMS versions (so far): - v1.09 - Foundation - PathFinder - Atlas Rises Alongside: Fractal Worlds Part 2 I have also reverse engineered and mapping out the global classes for legacy nms versions.
