People often ask me what I miss most from previous jobs. Without a doubt, the opportunities to connect with our teams rank near the top. Thank you CDO Titans for an awesome Town Hall today!

Now to what many want to hear: what did I eat? Today, I tried batchoy, a soup dish composed of pork rinds, pigs innards and egg noodles and an egg dropped raw in the scalding hot broth where it cooks within a minute. The 🍜 originated in Iloilo where my mother was born. Masarap!

My first stop in my journey is @CagayanDe (CDO) to visit one of the greatest call centers in the world. CDO is the capital of the province of Misamis Oriental in Northern Mindanao, Philippines. Learn more here:

Still on my journey, 6 hours from Manila. I made sure to set an alarm to wake me up mid-flight to keep me on US time. Most of my team’s work is done to support the US which means we work nights in the Philippines. Surprised to see WiFi working over the Pacific Ocean.

Already aboard, I’m planning to stay awake for the first leg to San Francisco. Emails will definitely accomplish that for the 5 hour trip. Then, on the second leg to Manila, get something to eat, catch a flick and sleep. What else should I do?

2) Check your bags (unless you have losebagophobia). Carrying on your bag for a 24 hr trek is a hassle that can be avoided. TSA doesn’t apply outside of the US so in every stop everything will be inspected, thoroughly in some countries.

A couple of thoughts/learnings: 1) Flights of this length will require 1+ stops. If you can make those within the US do so. In every country you stop outside of the US, you will have to go through security as when you arrived at the airport. Unless you enjoy security checks 😉
