BPD 'traits' is not a diagnosis. Either give a diagnosis or don't refer to bpd at all. Self harm is self harm it isn't a 'BPD trait'. BPD traits is a meaningless phrase designed to get BPD in by the back door and without accountability.

It is astounding all the staff on this thread commenting that they worked in asylums in 70s, 80s, 90s and saw similar cases yet nobody is asking why mdts in later decades didn't release them. They weren't kept there by magic. Staff made daily decisions to uphold their admissions

The way the PD label is used to abuse women would not be possible if THOUSANDS of mh professionals didn't engage in the abuse. This isn't a handful of bad apples. This is YOU and your colleagues. It's everywhere. MH professionals should be ashamed of themselves.

Personality disorder should be abolished but until then it should never be dx without a process as thorough as autism dx and only if patients consent to go through the process. Why is there such a disparity between PD and autism dx? Who benefits?

Anyone else feel that professionals love involvement until you actually challenge them. Sometimes it is difficult not to feel it is all an entire waste of time.

Neopaternalism Example: "We've decided for you that you must not be dependent on us. Your opinion doesnt matter because we are doing this for you, in your best interests. We are discharging you to promote your independence nb it has nothing to do with neoliberal ideology or cuts"
