The Wisteria Walk’s magnificent purple cultivar ‘Kokuryu’ is now flowering after a much-anticipated wait. The white ‘Kimono’ cultivar is also starting to bloom, meaning that the two combined will provide a spectacular sight in the coming days.

Beautiful beautyberry - These are two different cultivars of Callicarpa bodinieri (common name = beautyberry) which are in full flow right now. Interestingly, due to the vibrant, almost unnatural colour of the berries, the wildlife tend to avoid them.
Nestled away in the tranquil Oakwood area of the garden is this spectacular Acer palmatum ‘Skeeter’s Broom’. Its ruby-red leaves provide a breathtaking sight, even on an overcast day.

The wait is over - the edgeworthias are in bloom. As you enter the garden, Edgeworthia chrysantha 'Winter Liebe' is full of flower. Sheltered by the Laboratory are fine specimens of the species and the cultivar 'Red Dragon', and more of each are along the Winter Walk. . Stunning!
The Cottage Garden is a must-see at this time of year. Look for beautiful plantings of Rosa Wild Thing (‘Jactoose’), Geranium Rozanne (‘Gerwat’), lavender, Stipa gigantea, and Rosa mulliganii on the arches as you enter.

The iconic Wisley Laboratory is currently adorned with this spectacular Ceanothus arboreus ‘Trewithen Blue’. Ceanothus, or Californian lilac as they’re sometimes known, love a good sunny spot, such as a west or south facing wall.

The Bowes-Lyon Rose Garden is surrounded by a sea of violet-blue Camassia, providing a beautiful new view of the area.
Camassia produce upright spires of star-shaped flowers in shades of violet-blue, white or pink and appear from late spring to early summer.
Join us for a special ‘Walkies at Wisley’ trial evening on 23 August from 6-8pm. We know that many of our visitors are dog lovers, so have decided to introduce a trial for your four legged-friends. It’s free to RHS Members. Non-members can gain discounted entry. Dogs go free!

Over in The Glasshouse, our Worsleya procera (which has been in our collection since 2008) has flowered for the first time. It’s a tricky plant to cultivate, so we were delighted to see the stunning blue and purple flowers make an appearance this week.

New plantings of

'Harmony' are blooming on Seven Acres. 'Harmony' is a dwarf, bulbous plant, flowering in early spring. Its flowers are royal blue with delicate detailing:
Cascades of red berries are typical of this viburnum betufolium found between the Glasshouse Café and the Seven Acres Lake. It looks so bright in the late autumn garden and will remain a colourful highlight up to early spring.

This week we were delighted to spot that our jade vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys), also known as an emerald creeper, has flowered! Head on over to The Glasshouse to marvel at this rare beauty, native to the Philippines. The colours are absolutely outstanding – not to be missed.
One of our early spring highlights is the crocus display on the Conifer Lawn, with thousands of spring bulbs providing a magical carpet of colour.
Now the evenings are starting to get lighter, don't forget you can enjoy the garden for longer - RHS Wisley is now open until 6pm.
The South African Meadow is full of colourful gems right now! Located near the Glasshouse, it’s a perennial meadow featuring plants native to South Africa, including Berkheya purpurea and Kniphofia caulescens:

are a true winter wonder. This Helleborus Walberton's Rosemary = 'Walhero' (PBR) along the Winter Walk, displays eye-catching pink star shaped flowers from late winter until spring.

It’s the first day of Meteorological

and Wisley’s iconic crocus display on the Conifer Lawn is in bloom. More than 200,000 bulbs have been added over the past 5 years, making it an impressive view at this time of year:
Today marks the one-year anniversary of the official opening of our Welcome building. It was also raining on 10 June last year as our founding RHS Ambassador Alan Titchmarsh, joined our Director General Sue Biggs to open the doors – it didn’t dampen our spirits though!
Have you noticed these new succulent mounds planted in pots around the Old Laboratory? Featuring a variety of Echeveria, they are great examples of low maintenance summer containers which require minimal watering.
