Southern Miss is the school that got hit the hardest by conference realignment. From the late 70s to early 2000s they were better than either Ole Miss or MSU. Almost ended up in a conference with FSU, Miami, & VT. Only original CUSA team to not get promoted & now Sun Belt bound

If you're outside of Tallahassee, a FSU home game is a $1500 weekend between tickets, overpriced hotels, food, etc. When it costs that much to go to a game metal bleachers and piss troughs don't cut it anymore.

BREAKING: Florida State's Baba Miller will miss the first 16 games of the 2022-23 season due to an NCAA suspension, per release. Miller received travel to & from a training camp from his native Spain to the United States, but repaid the benefits once he knew it was a violation.

What killed the ACC was Swofford prioritizing Raycom above anything else in 2011. ACC playing catch up and extending the deal for increasingly little instead of going to open market killed any chance of staying competitive.

The ACC did realize football was going to be dominant. Every expansion move it made since ‘91 has been about football. What’s killed the ACC are two main things: its football powers tanked at the worst possible time. And the SEC/BIG dominate football TV ratings, anyway.

If a conference is dependent on one school going on the run FSU had from 1987-2000 or to stay relevant it's not a power conference. It's leeching off the success of the few members willing to invest at the highest level.
