For #NationalHandwritingDay here's proof that doctors don't have terrible handwriting! This beautifully handwritten letter (c.1735) diagnoses a patient with breast cancer, a “disorder rarely hitherto known to yield to any milder remedy than the knife”.

Happy #LibraryShelfieDay! 📚 We love this photo of our Lower Library - this was the original working library of the College when we moved to our premises on St Vincent Street in 1862. Many of the books in this room date from that period and cover all aspects of medicine & surgery
