You might have noticed that moss doesn’t have roots. So how do mosses get their water and nutrients? Mosses attach to surfaces using thread-like rhizoids, which take in moisture from the air. The mosses themselves are also absorbent and can harvest minerals from rainwater.

Did you know that bees communicate by dancing? Bees perform a “waggle dance” to share information about a good food source. The dance provides precise directions to other bees in the hive, indicating the direction, distance, and quality of the food!

#DidYouKnow: Piping Plovers are beach cleaners, keeping insect and small crustacean populations in check on beaches from Ontario to the Gulf of Mexico. To allow the Plovers to do their job, it’s important to do our part to protect their habitats and keep beaches trash-free.

These Whooping Cranes traveled over 4,000 km to spend their winter in the Aransas National Wildlife Preserve in Texas. As one of the rarest birds in North America, the Whooping Crane relies on protected areas to continue its incredible recovery from the brink of extinction.
