Everything on Cybertron has glowy TRON lines because Cybertron doesn't orbit a sun.
Since there's no sunlight, Cybertron & everything on it need to glow in the dark in order for people to see. That's also why the light level changes depending on how much energy the planet has.

Reasons why Megatron should be a roadheader:
- Fits his backstory as a miner
- Fits his plan to harvest Earth's resources
- Could work his flail into the alt. mode
- One of the few Earth vehicles that ACTUALLY COMES IN HIS COLORS
- Still big and scary and destructive and stuff

You use a new look & personality, but at least keep the core traits.
Its why I rolled my eyes when people got so upset over ROTB Mirage being "not true to his G1 self's personality/ ignored his backstory".
It was so satisfying when the BTS revealed the ROTB writers actually did take from his G1 rich boy origins, but with a new twist
