Being single and working in higher ed you can really see the impact of hypergamy. I have a PhD, but I can date a waitress (and have!). Female colleagues HAVE to date someone else with a PhD which means they usually end up with cats or autistic guys from STEM fields

I don't think her requirements are unreasonable, but based on my experience dating in my 50s I would add two things: I'm not going to help you pay your mortgage or your kid's (or kids') college tuition, private school, etc.

They don't even have to be "high achieving" - my female undergraduates would be embarrassed to be dating someone who isn't in college - both around their friends (who are also in college) and their family (who are sending them to college to meet someone who is college educated)

I had a student - 22, football player, 4.0 GPA, AA - do a summer internship with the Secret Service guarding VP Biden in 2012.
Thousands of applications, 100 interviews, and they picked three people.
The standards have clearly dropped in 2024.

I had a student this past semester who said in a group discussion that before coming to college she wrestled with becoming a novitiate, but decided she really wanted a husband and family.
At the end of the semester I bumped her a letter grade.

I'm a college professor and my son did his graduate work at Purdue. Outstanding engineering school, inexpensive, and they provide research opportunities and funding for students that is the equivalent of firing money at them from a t-shirt cannon.
