The value @melanji and @alexisfps bring to a team is irreplaceable, they are the most criminally underrated players I know. Both of them are incredible leaders, and I mean TRUE leaders who bring you confidence as a player and person. They are able to alleviate your own.

When I was competing in Soniqs in VCT, we had multiple 40+ minutes delay because of both enemy and our own tech issues and there was never an issue; just got disqualified in GC because of a few minutes tech delay CAUSED by tournament client issues.

It's significantly easier to perform individually when you don't communicate properly; in doing so, you become a liability and hinder the rest of the team. Heaps of players have great mechanics, but almost none can maintain that level whilst having good communication.

I believe that statistic-based platforms like VLR/Spike can help GC players' chances at getting opportunities significantly more by having GC stats as an isolated metric. Stats aren't everything, but for teams that are looking for players; they're a big factor and a convenient.
