If you’re new to the world of decentralization terminologies, and (tired of reading) a jungle of papers.
If you're interested in techs.

and beyond?
Fantom network is:
- decentralized (permissionless, leaderless, DAG v2)
- low gas fee (low Gwei)
- ultra fast

If you get lost in a jungle of DLT terminologies and papers, blah blah.
Here is a single picture. "L1 in a nutshell".

FYI if one still does not know. Their algorithm does not sound, and the prototype from the hashgraph repo didn't work at all at the time.
Lachesis is unique. Opera code is developed entirely by Fantom. The network has worked for 4+ yrs. It's permissionless, open-sourced.
Unpopular opinion:
The current landscape of blockchains, many people prefer:
- high fees
- high TTF
- database rather than blockchain
- outsourcing chain security
- few others
🙈🙉🙊
Block generation:
- convention: single validator / miner can propose a block.
- Fantom: block is decided by 2/3W+1. No single validator can propose a block.
Which is more decentralized? 🤔
@Justin_Bons
True.
- Decentralization is hard: Fantom solved it 4 years ago. No single block proposer. Fantom has solutions for speed in the db layer.
- Parallelization is hard in general: Speed up is estimated around 50%?. Worth a try, but no shill.
- L2s are not form of parallelization.

FTM does produce blocks. Each node maintains a DAG of event blocks to reach consensus of confirmed events, and it then produces finalized blocks.

Artion v2 is a complete rework. Welcome any feedback for Artion v2 (please direct all feedback to our support team). Paintswap is great, too.
