Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science 👩🔬💫 Today, we celebrate the incredible women and girls shaping the future of STEM. To understand what inspired them to pursue a career in physics, we asked four of our female Qruisers to tell us about their journeys so far… For Dr Ana Laura Gramajo, it started with the small but significant word “qubit”. Her curiosity inspired her to pursue a PhD in theoretical physics, where she also got the chance to see a superconducting quantum computation lab in action ⚛️🔬 “Watching theory and experiment come together was mind-blowing. Seeing abstract ideas turn into something real and tangible completely shifted my perspective.” By the end of her PhD, the quantum ecosystem had expanded significantly, and Ana knew she wanted to continue exploring and contributing to this rapidly evolving field. Dr Lorena C. Bianchet was driven to study physics by a profound urge to understand how things work. She fell in love with photons and everything related to lasers, optics, and photon science, leading her to specialise in light-matter interaction ⚡️⚛️ “It always felt a little like doing magic in reality.” Along the way, she was encouraged by her high school physics teacher and her university professors, who believed in her capabilities and inspired her to pursue this path. Like Ana and Lorena, Dr Kirsty McGhee also studied physics, but she always harboured a secret passion for conveying knowledge through writing ✍️ “It was only during my PhD when a fellow female scientist told me about an internship she’d done in a publishing company that I realised that maybe it was possible to also pursue writing.” As the Scientific/Technical writer at Qruise, Kirsty’s current job is the perfect blend of these two passions ✨ Dr Swathi Hegde's interest in quantum systems began when she first explored the intricate world of spin qubits, where she was captivated by the ability to manipulate and control quantum states 💫 With a background in implementing quantum gates and algorithms, she now drives the development of advanced MRI control protocols at Qruise, bringing her expertise in coherent quantum control to this innovative field 🔥 We’re so happy their journeys led them to Qruise! Let’s celebrate, amplify, and continue to make space for women and girls in science 🙌 #InternationalDayOfWomenAndGirlsInScience #WomenInSTEM

Our heads are spinning after an excellent time at SpinQubit6 in Sydney last week!💫 As our first spin qubit conference, it didn’t disappoint! It was great to get an insight into the field, learning all about the latest advances and current challenges, and, most importantly, the meteoric progress that has taken place in the last 5 years!☄️ It was wonderful listening to colleagues from both industry (ARQUE, @diraqQC, @intel, @imec_int, Quobly) and academia (@QuTech_news, @UniKonstanz, @UNSW, @UWMadison, @UniofOxford) present some very promising results demonstrating the advancements made in scalable qubit fabrication and control ⚛️ This vibrant community of startups, research centres, and academic institutions is driving the field forward as it becomes a strong contender for the final answer to scalable fault tolerant quantum computing 💪🏼🚀 One non-science highlight from the week was the whale watching cruise on Wednesday, where we were very lucky to see a baby humpback enjoying splashing around with its mama 🌊🐋 A special thanks to the organisers for such a fabulous week! We’re already looking forward to SpinQubit7 🔥🥳 #SpinQubit6 #SpinQubits #QuantumComputing

Two weeks ago, we had the pleasure of attending the QuE-MRT Annual Meeting at @TU_Muenchen ⚛️🤝 The QuE-MRT project aims to enhance hyperpolarised MRI, thereby transforming it into a clinically and commercially viable technique for the metabolic imaging of cancerous tumours. It was brilliant to hear about the progress our partners have made, and to present the newest version of the Qruise software and demonstrate how it will aid the project. Two particularly special moments for us were touring the state-of-the-art laboratories and discussing the future of hyperpolarised NMR and MRI technologies with the partners 🔬🔮 It’s great to see how our combined expertise is pushing the boundaries of quantum-enhanced medical imaging. We’re looking forward to continuing these valuable partnerships as we work together to advance healthcare diagnostics!💪💫 A special thank you to Prof. Franz Schilling's lab and the Institute of Nuclear Medicine for being such fantastic hosts ✨ #QuE_MRT #HyperpolarisedMRI
