ER shift @ED_KFHU CO Poisoning Management #WhiteboardTeaching #foamed Written by Dr Zainab Alkhamis ————————— 🔍 Evaluation •VBG with CO-oximetry, lactate, ECG (ST/T changes), head CT. •Pulse oximetry unreliable. ⚡ Management •100% O2 via NRB/ETT until COhemoglobin <10%. •Pulmonary toilet, early PEEP; avoid steroids. •Monitor bicarbonate for recovery. 🌊 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBO) •Indications: Syncope, confusion, neuro deficits, pregnancy (>15%), COhemoglobin >25%. 🏥 Disposition •Discharge: Minimal symptoms, safe environment. •Observe: Mild symptoms, resolve in 4 hours. •Admit: Severe symptoms, pregnancy, or cardiac/neuro changes.
