No dummy. Black men weren’t seen as men during those times, weren’t getting paid as much as their white make counterparts, while they were doing most of the work & teaching them how to do their jobs.
The 1968 Memphis Sanitation Workers Strike in which an appeal was made — that they, too, are men while being Black and working class.
This is historical evidence of Black men’s “allegiance” to gender and whiteness.
