It honestly cannot be restated enough how beautifully animated this scene is, you can tell a lot of time and effort was put into each frame. To think that all of this was all sketched, drawn, and painted is mind boggling. Unfortunate how uncommon Patlabor discussion is nowadays
Something that production studios keep doing when rebooting old beloved TV shows for some reason is hiring writers who vocally dislike the franchise they’re working on

Everyone keeps referencing that one woman, like it actually compares to the insane amount of police brutality done during BLM protests that didn't do anything as severe as this
For some reason western comics treat giant super robots as machines meant to be torn apart by wow factor. If this was a manga, the robot would be giving some of the most trouble.

WHAT. THE. HECK!!! 😡😡😡 I buy a mech action figure and when it finally arrives its all broken up!! Do they honestly expect me to put it together myself?? No one has time for that!! Im getting a refund!!
Some of the episodes of Dexter’s Lab really do show how the people behind it really did like anime, that one episode where he goes to Japan being a big one
This environment is probably ideal, if the piece flings off the runner or off the model it’ll just fall down to the bottom of the suit and not disappear somewhere in your room
THAT’S RIGHT! THE IDEA THAT LOTS OF MECHA ANIME ISN’T CHARACTER FOCUSED IS A DELUSION CREATED BY PEOPLE WHO EITHER ARE NEW TO THE GENRE OR NEVER ATTEMPTED TO UNDERSTAND IT AT ALL! MOST IF NOT ALL MECHA ANIME HAS BEEN CHARACTER DRIVEN SINCE THE BEGINNING!
"Unlike other mecha series, this one is about the characters." I know rolling your eyes at this is almost as cliche as the statement itself, but has there ever been a mecha anime that is truly uninterested in the characters though?
The animation in the first Patlabor movie is just gorgeous, every frame was drawn with love and care. And to think this came out in 1989. You don't see animation like this in anime as often anymore.
Of all the clips of Patlabor I see circulating on this site I'm surprised this one isn't one of them. Despite it's short length and lack of dialogue, It's an important scene given the context of the episodes preceding this, and says a lot about the world of Patlabor
I will never forgive Marvel for making Iron Man such a jobber, whoever drew this badass suit only for it to get torn apart in like 5 seconds should go to HELL

after the bird flew away, the man who recorded the singing replayed it so he can hear it again. The bird heard it and flew back thinking there was another one.
Mecha as a genre was a mess before Gundam came along, all those asinine shows about robots powered by magic farts and monster wrestling of the week got tired quick. Gundam, unlike other mecha, focused on character development and the people and war rather than the robots.

To me it looks like the point of this comic falls flat since they reversed the genders. Men are usually the ones who chase after women and are most likely starved of any and all affection. So a woman coming up to a guy and wanting to hook up is something a guy naturally wishes fo
