Day one sick pay and lower earnings limit reforms very welcome. Clear though that the Government must do a wider review of sick pay, including the rate if it is serious about tackling the UK's health, productivity and living standard challenge

Good to see this contribution to the debate and evidence-base on the future of workplace health from @thefabians @sasjkia out this week Key recommendation on Statutory Sick Pay: - add an immediate raise to the rate - review and pathway towards a higher rate
🚨NEW REPORT🚨 How do we improve health at work? In ‘Nye’s Lost Legacy’ @sasjkia makes the case for the introduction of a national occupational health service Here’s what you need to know 🧵

MPs are voting on two vital measures in the Employment Rights bill on Monday. Day one sick pay and sick pay for the lowest earners. Millions of working people don't have #SafeSickPay. These changes are a good step - and we need to go further to improve the UK's workforce health
Exclusive: some 8.3 million workers in the UK will still receive unliveable sick pay - little as £3/hour - despite changes to the Employment Rights Bill. Campaigners are calling on govt to back amendments to make sick pay safer next week. @Prog_Change

Great to see @JohannaBaxter pressing the Minister on Statutory Sick Pay reform on the first day back after recess! We need to increase Statutory Sick Pay to stop workers falling into poverty.

It was great to speak to Leek Building Society today - a business with a leading global reputation on employee wellbeing. One thing that inspires us in our work to seek a safe sick pay system for all workers is meeting the many employers who go far beyond the statutory minimum

Revealing to hear members of Govt's disability confident employer scheme are no more likely to hire disabled people than those not in the scheme A lesson for the Government on sick pay here- weaker action undermines the chance of greater positive impact on workforce health.
Great to join and listen to @resfoundation's event with Sir Charlie Mayfield this morning. Supporting #disabled people into work has to mean an adequate financial safety net when they do need time off. Part of that means better #statutorysickpay

Excellent analysis from @wpi_economics on one of the Employment Rights Bill's two #sickpay reforms, day one sick pay. Improved productivity, retention and morale all add up to a £2bn net business benefit.
When employers trust their employees and provide sick pay from day one, their businesses benefit too. If you're too ill to work, you shouldn't. Simple as that.

Brilliant to have @alexsobel as a public supporter of the #SafeSickPay campaign. At £3 an hour, Statutory Sick Pay is so low that many are forced to return to work whilst ill or injured - jeopardising both their physical and mental health. It's time this changed.

It was great to see @JohannaBaxter raising the rate of Statutory Sick Pay with Alison McGovern MP, Minister for Employment in Parliament last week. "As a Department we are looking at it very closely and I'm sure Parliament will discuss the issue ... over the years to come"

Our director, Amanda Walters said “If we are serious about improving the health of the working age population, the Government needs to stop ignoring the elephant in the room and put statutory sick pay in line with the minimum wage.”

Studies by some of the UK's top experts at the @WorkFoundation @resfoundation @HealthFdn @wpi_economics @CitizensAdvice @CIPD and @IPPR (to name a few!) have found that the UK's low sick pay is actually making the workforce's health worse.

The latest annual data is on the link below. It masks the true picture: Day in day out, millions of workers are going to work ill or injured, working through pain because their sick pay doesn't cover the bills. They don't get counted in these statistics. https://t.co/n8xRBFbiu7

Some significant news from the ONS on sick day data this morning. There has been a large fall in total sick days taken by workers, but there is more to the story... a 🧵

Danny's story is one of thousands we've heard. The UK remains a global laggard on sick pay. We'd urge the Mayfield review to ensure raising the rate of sick pay is a key part of its agenda
