Kenya Prisons Service Enhances Food Security and Inmate Management in Western Region. The Kenya Prisons Service (KPS) remains a key player in promoting food security and supporting the Greening Kenya Initiative.

Accompanying the CGP were directors from Prisons Headquarters (PHQ), the regional commander for Western, and OICs from the region, among other senior officials.

While addressing prison staff, the CGP underscored the importance of secure and safe inmate containment, stressing the need for proper deployment and the implementation of preventive measures to minimise the risks of escapes.

He further encouraged OICs to collaborate with Court Users Committees to ease prison congestion through Community Service Orders (CSOs) and the reduction of bail and bond terms. He highlighted sound decision-making as a cornerstone of effective leadership.

During a working visit to the Western Region today, the Commissioner General of Prisons (CGP), Mr. Patrick Aranduh, CBS, emphasised the region's potential as a food basket and urged Officers in Charge to expand farming to diversify Appropriations in Aid (A.I.A.) revenue streams.

This improvement aligns with the institution's overarching goal of providing a safe and humane environment for offenders. Moreover, the plant has contributed to more efficient utility management, reducing costs while ensuring a consistent supply of clean water.

He noted the efforts of the OICs in fostering strategic partnerships that have significantly transformed the institution. Among the notable achievements is the establishment of a state-of-the-art water treatment plant and the installation of solar panels.

During today's working visit to Kisumu Command, the Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr. Patrick Aranduh, CBS, commended the Officer in Charge of the Command for their remarkable leadership and commitment to excellence.
