AGAIN. we need more regions with CDL supported challenger leagues/tournaments. LatAm, Japan and South Africa have growing competitive scenes. There are hidden gems and passionate fanbases that need help to reach their potential. #LatAmChallengers.
Last note on challengers for now, but I think it’s a missed opportunity to not capitalize on COD’s peak popularity by expanding challengers to more regions. Adding a LatAm region and a separate region for Asia itself is needed to help grow the comp cod scene overall and the CDL.

Stepping aside from pursuing professional COD at the time being. Since leaving Trainhard in CW, I've been one foot in, one foot out of the COD scene as I also pursued my degree/non-esports career path. I picked up analyst work as I could review VOD on my own schedule. (1/3).

If the CCL ceases to exist this year, the biggest loss will be the community presence it had. The high quality broadcast, top 25 rankings, divisions with meaningful matches, in-season side events, etc. Leagues can’t just host games, they need to build community interest.

The shutdown of GameBattles creates another barrier of entry for comp COD. Many of us were introduced to comp through GBs with IRLs years ago. In a game where we already don’t have ranked play until months after release, the casual competitive community has big voids to fill.

Needless to say but if you’re pursuing the league PLEASE HAVE A BACKUP PLAN. not every CDL player is falling into generational wealth. A Best Buy sales rep could be making more $$$.
There will be no more minimum salary requirements in the Call of Duty League starting next season. For the last couple of years the minimum was set at ~$55,000. Teams will instead have to abide by minimum salaries in the states in which they operate.

One of these things is not like the other…. COD registration in Canada is lacking compared to others, however the more glaring concern is the distribution. Using data from ECPS Nats, the # of Ontario teams is actually pretty normal but we need to grow the scene elsewhere in 🇨🇦.

I’m not about that “grind mindset” typically, but I do see a trend in which some of the best young AM COD players were lesser known players who grinded through the offseason (even old cods). Scrappy, Estreal, Flames, Kidzz grinded old games while others were playing minecraft.

I love COD, but it’s a major red flag when someone has nothing going on outside of the game. You need to be able to shut off the COD brain sometimes. It’s difficult to do well in-game, if you’re limiting your wellbeing outside of the game.

Coming into the Toronto event, 44 Canadian players had placed in the pro points this year. 21 of the 44 are current or former collegiate players. If you’re not at the challengers elite level, collegiate is 100% the best avenue to grow as a player.

The boys finished CXP Varsity in 4th place after a close L to @ZooNerUS & Co (247-250, 4-6, 2-3). Finished the season strong and hopefully turned some heads for a first year having a COD team at @condorsesports. Excited to carry the momentum into next season.

Maybe a hot take but: the CCL Community took a massive hit when 8s left the @CollegeCoD server. Casual competitive settings are huge for building relationships and indirectly storylines. It’s always a better matchup when you know someone on the other side.

Pretty excited to be chairing the COD rankings committee with ECPS. Right now we are only considering schools that are actively participating in a fall season. Will be interesting to see how these rankings change by end of the spring semester.

Man, no one lost out more in the CDL era than APAC COD. It’s so expensive getting over for events, and now there is no ability to qualify for the pro league. Those teams benefited from the weeks in NA for CWL, and then brought it back to their region to raise the level of comp.

There are some huge fallacies I see in coaching / analyst work in esports. Most notably, too much data/coaching identifies deficiencies but does not address how to correct them. Don’t waste time on ideas that are not actionable. Ex. what is the point in collecting K/D stats?.
