🌷Last week, we welcomed Christine, Curator of Natural History @PortsmouthNHM It was a pleasure to showcase our Herbarium and share insights about Falklands flora. 🌾 Did you know? 🤔The collection that Christine manages includes a few specimens collected by Laurence Stickney of Spring Point in 1901-1902, who corresponded with plant biologist HLF Guermonprez. History and nature beautifully intertwined! 🌹 Our Herbarium is open to the public—come and discover the stories that our plant specimens tell! 🤩 Or you can visit us online: 💻 #FalklandsConservation #NationalHerbarium #NatureHistory #plants #plantlife

What's that gorgeous golden yellow tree in the museum garden? It's a #Ginkgo - one of the oldest living tree species in the world! This autumn they've been putting on a show in #Portsmouth, as the fan-shaped leaves have been turning a golden yellow and falling to the ground🍂

These White Water-lilies in the #herbarium have been matched to some watercolours in the collection, that show the same plants from a pond near Linch in West Sussex, on the 17th August, 1894. The White Water-lily produces the UK's largest #flower 🪷
