@kenny_isnt_here @AdrianneCurry @DOGE The President is head of the executive branch. He can create agencies (as JFK did when he created USAID) and he can shut them down. Congress specified a certain amount be spent on foreign aid. They cannot demand a certain set of people be the ones to spend it.

@robkroese I once dated a girl who wanted me to help her charitable organization procure fake IDs for illegals. She claimed it was legal because the governor was behind it. (Of course, it was an Illinois governor, so his endorsement didn't really give me confidence in the legality thing.)

@GameOverStation And the most ridiculous aspect of this is actual fact that every woman who's recommended a "romantic" novel to me has specified a book featuring some violent, dominating man. When you're a guy who lives with cats and likes long walks in the woods, it's not fun.

@PolitiBunny The important point is the 1%. They don't need Federal funding ignites that small. Cut them off, and not only will they survive, they can stop pretending to be fair and objective. Constantly lying about that is bad for the soul.

So I am finally reading Time-Marked Warlock by @GameOverStation, and 3 pages in I know who the protagonist is, what kind of person he is, what makes him an unusual character, and one of the things that drives him. So, naturally, I want to continue reading to see what happens to my new friend. THIS is what entertainment is missing these days. I want movies and TV shows to do this, too. You don't have to save a cat, but you can at least be a real, defined person! Link in comment.
