To be clear, I have rooted for UW to lose every game in every sport for decades and will continue to do so for the rest of my days on this earth, only with exponential anger and bitterness.
WSU fans now rooting for Oregon this week because they don’t have another Coug game to watch this season is peak comedy. One of the two teams they “dislike” because the Pac-12 conference imploded on itself. Purely and unapologetically hypocritical.

For anyone who’s ever proposed promotion and relegation in college football. Well, it happened. Promoted: Houston, UCF, Cincinnati, BYU. Relegated: Stanford, Cal, Wazzu, Oregon State. Doesn’t sound so fun when it’s college athletes, not rich owners, paying the price.

@kumudrajp @GeoffONeil @PodvsEveryone @CougCenter I doubt the politicians even realize how bad this might end up. This is going to hit WSU in admissions and the general reserves are probably going to have to bail out athletics. The whole university could end up in danger because of this.

I think this is true, but more so for Fox.
Really wondering if ESPN/Fox were hoping that if they didn’t make an offer on the PAC-12 this exact situation would happen so they could just get the couple of teams they wanted for the conferences they already controlled.

@MattNorlander Only reason I don't say 100% is because I don't have confirmation from sources who would know. A D2 lifer turning down WSU after 1 mediocre Big Sky year seems implausible on its face, but even more so when the new contract is about half of what he'd supposedly have made here.

@BrianMFloyd I think there are two different ways to look at it. Does it work with what Gameday has traditionally been? Not really. But when you look at what ESPN has done with its personnel in the last 18 months, I think it’s clear that this is *exactly* what they want their product to be.

Doesn't it make more sense for football to break away to separate leagues and allow the rest of the sports to compete regionally? Rivalries remain n minor sports don't spend half their day looking for bad food at airport restaurants!!!.

This Pac-12 stuff just feels like a stark reminder that capitalism kills everything you love eventually. This'll probably be it for WSU's national relevance. They get the same fate every underdog in a capitalist system gets. The boot.

I’m sure WSU will try to continue it simply because the football game is a major money maker, and scheduling in non-revenues is hard enough as it is without excluding a regional opponent. (This is why we play Gonzaga in many sports.).
