I just realised that I started developing Podcast Addict 10 years ago... The app started as a side project but it's been my main activity for the past 7 years now. This has been the best job ever (minus the times when Google messes up with the app...)

So I got 1 star reviews when Joe Rogan sold his podcast. Now I'm getting 1 star reviews asking me to remove him from the platform (he's just available on Spotify!), but also 1 star reviews and angry emails bc apparently I banned him from the app... Enough with Joe Rogan!!!

Sometimes these 1-star reviews are so frustrating... This person has no clue how much work it takes to keep an app and its servers up and running while keeping publishing new features and handling the support. Also, podcast apps as well as podcast hosting platforms are vital

So basically I added an extra space at the end of the app listing and pressed on ReSubmit. We'll see what happens now

Basically they ask me to 'FIX' the app, and publish it as a new app that will therefore have no download, no ratings on the store.

Since Podcast Addict has been restored to the Play Store I received a lot of messages from other developers who have been experiencing the exact same issue.
They are asking me how I got this fixed and how I was able to get someone to talk to at Google.

So now Google is rejecting the update because the app isn't compatible with Android Auto. Of course the app has been supporting Android auto for 6+ years now and of course their reason here is bogus. I'm so fed up with this...

This new version implements the latest Google Restrictions (new permissions required to do things that didn't need them before). It also improves the Skip Silence feature by adding different levels of aggressiveness.

Podcats Addict v4.8 has just been released. This version now uses a new logo.
It also improves a lot Radio management. Radio stations can now be organized, reordered, displayed in list mode and much more.

The 'funny' thing is that yesterday evening I was able to reach The Play Store support as a USER for a movie rental issue and to get a refund within a few minutes. They can do great support when they WANT TO.

If you experience issues accessing podcasts hosted by Megaphone, this is unfortunately normal as they forgot to renew their SSL certificate...
Being owned by Spotify doesn't prevent this kind of mistake...

Good news! The app will be able to store the downloaded files in a public file, so that other applications can access the files. You will not be able to select the folder BUT at least this fixes most of the issues caused by the latest version. More to come soon

I just released the last version for 2019.
This new version adds a feature that allows the playback to pause automatically (and refuse to start) when the volume is muted.
You can also access and customize the audio effects for each podcast in their Custom settings screen

The next version will make it easy for you to listen to a specific season of a podcast. This can be very useful for a podcast like Business Wars.
Long press on an episode and click on Play Season to do so.

Some people told me that I shouldn't have been using COVID-19 related keywords in the app metadata. FYI and to my knowledge, there's no keyword/metadata field on the Google Play Store. There's only the app description field and there was never any mention of COVID-19 there

Never tell a podcaster how a search engine works and that search results are ordered to show the most relevant results first..
If their podcast isn't displayed first, they could then start being aggressive/insulting and block you so you cannot answer the lies they are spreading

It looks like Apple disabled their Episode search API. Podcats Addict was relying on this API to populate the episodes search result tab.
I'm working on this, but this might take some time...

Did you know that you can paste any website / blog rss feed url into the app to track their new posts and read them from the app?
You can even paste the blog url into the app and the app should be able to find the RSS feed url for you.

Recently, Twitter started charging for their API usage. As a result, Podcast Addict will no longer be able to automatically share the episodes you've played on Twitter. But do not worry! You can still manually share your favorite episodes on any platform.

Sorry but the uservoice website is now disabled. Uservoice was a free service but they now ask for $999 per month for their 1st tier... I will have to check if I can find a new service for feature requests but the existing data is unfortunately lost

This version allows you to store the downloaded files in a public folder so other apps can still access those files. However you cannot customize that folder. Also lots of performance improvement and minor fixes

Google introduced a bug in their June ROM update which causes the device to send stop commands to the current media session. Until they fix this please join the Beta on the play store app page and then update to the latest version. You can then go to Settings/Download and enable
