Training for Players Consulting for Parents & Coaches If "Just Throw Strikes" & "Compete" actually helped. We wouldn't be here Free Help - Reach Out 👇🏼
Keep in mind…
Players aren’t posting their shitty days
Coaches aren’t posting their guys that throw slow
Parents aren’t posting their kids bad outings

Instead of posting your stats on Twitter and hoping to be seen.
Why not reach out to the school you want to go to via call or email and ask them.
“Hi, I’m … from … I play … where do I need to be at to be apart of your program?”
Just a thought.
Any mechanical adjustment that you make will put slightly different stresses on your arm.
It is very important that when you are going on some adjustments to start slow and work your way up in intensity.
For example:

When you are tweeting an acceptance from a college or accepting anything the rest of your life please remember this.
I learned this in a college communications class and it is so important
# stop saying you are blessed to commit
Please see thread…
1. Tempo
After peak leg lift, your tempo needs to match your effort level.
Low effort bullpens can help get the feel of this.
Most players keep the same slower tempo but, try to add velo at the very end of the delivery which locks you up🔒
If you want a free mechanical breakdown....
Step 1. Throw this tweet a retweet and a like.
Step 2. Follow
@Pitchin_Prowess
Step 3. Tag at least 3 friends
After you complete these steps I will reach out asking for a recent video of you.
I will do a short breakdown and @ you
@HypemanTorres7
@spberb
@troskybaseball
In college you have a bag with extra gear in case that is happens… it’s not the end of the world.
People forget things at all levels.
D1 athletes aren’t perfect
Professional athletes aren’t perfect
3. Back Leg Extension Before Rotation
The back leg needs to rotate before hitting full extension in order to allow the mobility of the hips to fully rotate into the front leg.
Young Pitchers
Realize if you gain 1 mph a month for a year, you are up 12 mph. That is
70-82
80-92
85-94
Don't be in a rush to gain so quickly.
@FlatgroundApp
Bigger
Faster
Stronger
That is the goal for pitchers now a days.
But is the order correct?
What would be the correct order for these 3 things to improve on?
My opinion
—————
1.Faster
2.Stronger
3.Bigger
Let’s hear what you think.

@CaseyDill22
@PitchingNinja
Michael has the arm consistency that I wish I had when I was his age.
I did exactly what I say not to do in this video when I was his age.
When he gets older he is going to throw 🧀and know exactly where it’s goin🎯
@mikeniro77
There is nothing you can do just once to go from 80 to 90 or 85 to 95.
It takes work and it takes time.
Work hard and be patient!
Love the process, not the result
The best JUCO in the state Vs. the worst D1 in the state.
Who wins?
— Comment your reason why and I will play devils advocate because it’s fun
@FlatgroundApp
Coaches,
If you feel like there is a disconnect between you and your players try this.
Schedule out a day each week to do individual meetings with each player and just talk about them. Get to know them more as a player. Share with them and understand them.
@FlatgroundApp
Good morning coach ___,
My name is ___ . I am from ___ . I am looking to play baseball at the next level and have interest in your program. Are you still looking for (your grad year&position)?
If so may I send you some video?
Thank you for your time,
(Your name)
Shout out to the catchers at all of the training facilities across the country…
You guys are so important to pitchers trying to make a jump or get to the next level.
@goodrocatching
The difference between a good HS pitcher and a great HS pitcher is the ability to throw 2 pitches for strikes compared to 1.
- Having repeatable mechanics on 2 pitches and feeling comfortable to throw them whenever will do WONDERS.
To "recreate" the same feel for "release point". You need to be throwing a standing partner.
This also is why guys struggle to throw through the baseball on the mound.
The k zone can be adjusted to the following...
Standing Shoulders - Top
Standing Hips - Bottom
Your catch partner should know everything you are trying to work on.
Playing catch is most likely going to be the most important thing you do as a pitcher every day…
Unless there is pitchers beeps 😉
Kind of unfair to use DeGrom as an example because he does so many things well at the highest level.
On the flip side of that, he is great to look at to see things done the right way!
Parents
Do not do the recruiting for your kids.
Help them with it as much as you can, but don’t do it for them.
It is much more important to have them realize that they are in control of their own destiny.
Coming from a JUCO to a D1 school.
If you want to get recruited from a JUCO you either need to easily stand out in the ENTIRE CONFERENCE.
or
Your team needs to win.
Winners get recruited first, they must be doing something right
What is a better mentality to have and why?
I will go over which one I personally believe is correct and why when the poll ends.
I would love to hear some answers! It’s interesting to hear how someone mentally attacks a competition.

@CaseyDill22
@NCAACWS
Went to a tournament today and saw a pitcher throw a ball for the first pitch of the game… Obviously not trying to…
I hear from the stands “come on just throw strikes”.
So tough to hear
“What good does saying compete do”
If you are going to tell a pitcher to compete, you might as well just say throw strikes…
It’s just as stupid
As always

🇺🇸 New Years Goals
Instead of adding 3 things to your list of goals.
Start with removing 2 things from your life/routine that is limiting your current goals.
Lastly, before asking for more, be thankful for what you got
@FlatgroundApp
Fielding your position as a pitcher is important…
But there is a reason that as a pitcher you are NOT supposed to touch the ball unless it is absolutely necessary in a fielding situation.
Your finish should be natural. Let you body do what it wants in order to decelerate.
@SwagnShades
Honestly loved it as a pitcher.
When I talk to guys about picking targets we go off of the catchers body, not necessarily where the glove is.
For example, if I want to throw a back door 2-seam on a FB away, I am aiming at the catchers shoulder so it works back to the glove

JUCO guy that maxed out 94mph in game (Fall)
He dedicated the winter break to himself
(Dec 5th-Jan 20th)
By end of the winter, he bullpen’d at
91-94 mph
Great 5 pitch mix

Nate Eovaldi gave up 5 HR’s in an inning.
Is he still a great pitcher? Yes
Same guy that carved in the playoffs? Yes
Does he still throw 100mph? Yes
Don’t let 1 good or bad outing make or break your season or your career.
@marvinfreeman84
I don’t agree with a lot of things that you say which is okay. I respect your opinion on everything you put out because you reached levels and had experiences that I did not.
But, you played in one of the hardest eras EVER
Steroids + batters that didn’t strike out
Coaches
Do your guys look forward to showing up to practice even though you make them work hard?
It is my understanding if you communicate well, you can push your players as hard as you can and they will still show up everyday ready to ride.
@coachzblair10
Zak, the game is a little different now then when you were playing in 13. Especially playing those big schools, it gets chippy.
I’m sure the coaches are not okay with that, but in the moment you need to let the kids find an edge and speak with them about it later.
Win the game
Pitchers
I cannot encourage you enough to talk to your own hitters
They give you a huge insight on how hitters think, what they are looking for in certain counts, and after certain sequences.
The higher up you go, the more valuable this information is!
Talk to your teammates!
It doesn’t matter what level your competition is or what game you are pitching in. The goal is always the same
Execute pitches to the desired location
If you do that you are going to be successful more times then not
If you are not ready for a
@PerfectGameUSA
showcase. It may actually hurt you more than help you.
If you look at other people that you play against or other people in your class and you aren’t the best.
Practice until you are, then dominate a showcase
@FlatgroundApp
If you don’t have any routine. Start with push ups & sit ups in the morning or afternoon.
It doesn’t sound like much but push ups help with shoulder stability.
Build consistency in a routine then move up to bigger things that fall in line with your routine
Looking to start an educational convo.
Why do people ice after games?
Ice is used to stop inflammation
Inflammation is your body’s natural way of healing something
Does ice really help after throwing or does it slow the recovery process and just make the area feel better?
Parents… some of these highschool coaches are more qualified to teach social studies than to coach baseball.
Players respect your coaches and also realize that this is your career, not your coaches. It’s your responsibility not theirs.
It’s not about what can I do to get better today.
It’s how can I improve on what I did yesterday.
Build off of what you have worked on. Create a routine. Stick to it
This is also why we preach the importance of staying back & not working a heavy drift when throwing flat-ground bullpens.
It is very easy to get forward with these with lateral posture.
Which only gets worse when adding the slope.
"Just Throw Strikes" - coach
"OHHH Shoot I forgot! I thought that I was supposed to throw balls! No wonder I haven't gotten anyone out this inning. Gosh I'm so glad they said that." - no pitcher ever
The toughest part of the year for an athlete in a non athletic family.
Don’t compromise your goals to fit in.
It’s okay to stand out, even within your family.
@FlatgroundApp
💡 Tip of the day:
Adding a little more tempo to your wind-up can help with becoming more consistent in regards to velo & command out of the stretch.
@FlatgroundApp
Recruiting advise for 2024
Tailor everything to impress a 40 year old rather than a 16 year old.
I know zero 16 year old college coaches.
Know your audience better this year.
@FlatgroundApp
Everyone loves
@PitchingNinja
‘s pitch tail videos.
⚾️💨 ————————
Not everyone knows how to use that to simplify throwing off speed for strikes when needed and balls when needed
Young pitchers, understand where to start your pitches.
Pitching becomes easier.
@FlatgroundApp
Players,
Professional baseball players get to the field 4-6 hours before the game not including the time time they spent in the gym that day.
Although they don’t have “practice” they work on the little things every single day.
Want to be great?
Start with the little things
Any baseball coaches need some help with the pitching/ throwing side of things? Feel free to reach out. It can be tough trying to piece together a program that benefits everyone in a different ways!

All that say your vacation is more important ask yourself this…
What if a college coach came to one of those “just high-school” games and your athlete just missed out on being seen and eventually being offered a scholarship…
Was that $100,000 vacation worth it?
@CoachJeffLeach
Sounds like the post game speech that every coach gives after the game…
The meeting down the line does very little when it comes to team productivity.
